International Manga Stars Crowned in Latest Silent Manga Audition®
TOKYO, Friday July 27th, 2018: The results of SMA9 are now in! With no clear Grand Prix winner, the judging panel, consisting of legendary manga creators Tetsuo Hara (Fist of the North Star; Fist of the Blue Sky), Tsukasa Hōjō (City Hunter; Angel Heart), Ryuji Tsugihara (Yoroshiku Mecha-Doc; Restore Garage 251) and COAMIX CEO Nobuhiko Horie, agonized over the entries and settled on awarding the GP Runner Up Award to 4 amazingly crafted manga.
Fisherman Tales (by joao eddie from Brazil), Sleepy Rock Z (by Paco Puente from Ecuador), Together (by RIZA aL ASSAMI from Indonesia) and sorry mr. bear (by the Millennium from Malaysia) all took the top spot as GP Runner Up Award winners, earning each creator a cash prize of 300,000 JPY each!
With the themes “Fairness, Respect and Teamwork”, SMA9 sought out to channel the essence of the Olympics in anticipation of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. So with 505 submissions from 59 countries, we feel the Silent Manga Community reflected this unifying spirit beautifully.
