Anime USA Welcomes Popular Animation Voice Actors to Washington D.C

Friday October 19th-Sunday October 21st at the Marriott Wardman Park.

Anime USA is proud to welcome returning talent and new faces for their 2018 convention. Their lineup this year includes:

Kira Buckland

Originating from Alaska, Kira Buckland started voice acting through online projects. She is now a voice actor for a variety of anime roles including Umi (Love Live), Izumo (Blue Exorcist), Kanae (5 Centimeters Per Second), Mika (Durarara x2), Cookie and Eco (Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans), and Mimete in the new Sailor Moon dub. She was also featured in “Miraculous Ladybug” as Alix/Timebreaker. As an avid gamer, she is happy to have lent her voice to quite a few video games including NieR: Automata (2B), Street Fighter V (Falke), Fire Emblem Heroes (Eirika & Katarina), Dead or Alive 5: Last Round (Honoka), and many more. Not forgetting her Internet roots, she still provides voice work for popular projects such as Kou/Gou in 50% Off and Aerith in FF7 Machinabridged.


Crispin Freeman

Crispin Freeman is a voice actor, director, and script adaptor who has portrayed characters in animation and video games since 1997. He has worked in a myriad of anime including Hellsing, Naruto, Ghost in the Shell, Howl's Moving Castle, and Ponyo.

In the world of video games he has played Superman, Iron Man, Dr. Manhattan, and Legolas among others. He voices the Male Wizard in Diablo III, Helios the Sun God in God of War III, and both Breakdown and Grimlock in Transformers: War for Cybertron. He has been in high profile Japanese games as Xenosaga, Final Fantasy, White Knight Chronicles, and Metal Gear Solid. In American animation, he has voiced characters including Electro in the Spectacular Spider-man series and MultipleMan in Wolverine and the X-men animated series. He's currently playing Speedy and Red Arrow in the DC animated series Young Justice.


Lisa Ortiz

Lisa Ortiz is a New York based veteran voice actor, director, and producer. She is most well known for her role as Lina Inverse in Slayers and Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog, but she began her career as the high elf Deedlit in Record of Lodoss War. Since then, she has gone on to record dozens of anime, series, audio books, video games, and films as a voice actor, producer, director, and adapter.

She is currently the director of Pokemon XY and has worked on the show in various capacities. She can currently be heard on the Nickelodeon Show Royal Academy, as well as Noembelu in Street Fighter V. Her directing credits include Norm of the North, The Dark Knight Rises, Dungeon Hunter 5, and Netflix's Heroes United. She is also the president of Noise of O Productions.


Monica Rial

Monica Rial has been working in the anime industry for 20 years and is currently listed as the most prolific anime voice actor in the United States. She is best known for her work as Bulma in the Dragon Ball franchise, but she has lent her voice to over 500 animes including Hello Kitty, My Hero Academia, One Piece, and many more. She voiced Jubilee on Aqua Teen Hunger Force and has also appeared in several video games including the Angry Birds series.


Karen Strassman

Karen Strassman is an actress, voiceover artist, and dialect coach, known the world over for hundreds of characters she has created in many forms. She delights in crafting characters that touch the brilliant human spirit and entertain the child within all of us. Whether on-camera or behind a mic, Karen is extremely versatile. She has played various roles such as the brilliant and empathic scientist Devra Bogdanovich in ‘Ingress’ and the quirky bookish OCD accountant Jolene on ‘Weeds’.

In addition to her work in film and television, she has created hundreds of voice-over characters of all shapes, sizes, genders, ages, and species- from classic Disney princesses and iconic villainesses, to talking jellyfish and shy tadpoles. Karen starred as Jinja in the new Nicktoons series ‘Monsuno’ and also voiced every other female character in the show. She additionally is the voice of many anime and video game characters. Karen has dual American and French nationality. She spent almost half her life in France and is fluent in French — although she has also worked in German, Spanish, Danish, Italian, and Yucatec!


Anime USA's voice acting guests will be hosting various panels to talk about their different paths into the business, stories about failures and success, and to give fans and aspiring voice actors insight into the business of doing voice work.
