Anime Festival: All New Guests, Film Premieres and Gaming Exclusives

Wednesday, 4 March 2020
Sydney, NSW

It's all systems go for the team at Madman, with their annual Anime Festival merely days away. The event promises fans an immersive and interactive experience at the ICC Sydney this weekend, with two new exciting additions to their celebrity guest line up.

Voice actors Bryce Papenbrook and Ricco Fajardo hail from the USA, and bring a wealth of talent spanning a catalogue of well-known anime titles including My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan and Sword Art Online. They'll be appearing throughout the weekend to meet fans and talk about their work.

They appear alongside already confirmed guests, voice actor David Matranga (My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan) and character designer/ animator, Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online).

Unfortunately, several of the event's Japanese celebrity guests have had to postpone their visit to Sydney due to travel policies relating to the coronavirus, including Yūki Kaji, Kana Ueda, Kensuke Tateishi, Kaori Maeda, Mayu Sagara, and Luna Haruna. The festival is already looking to reschedule these guests' appearances at a future event.

In further news, the event will also hold premiere screenings at Event Cinemas George Street for the highly anticipated film My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, in addition to Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, and the musical Live Spectacle Naruto ~ Song of the Akatsuki~.

The Australian firsts keep coming, with fans getting the chance to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons, thanks to Nintendo, before it hits shelves in mid-March. Similarly, Five Star Games will promote the release of Persona 5 Royal, with a special cosplay competition, ahead of its official release on March 31.

Anime Festival will be held at the ICC in Sydney, on Saturday the 7th (10am - 6pm) and Sunday the 8th of March (10am - 5pm). Tickets are on sale and can be purchased online from animefestival.com.au.
