The 3D Character Maker VRoid Studio Stable Ver. is Out Now for Free
On Sunday, October 31st, 2021, pixiv Inc. (Main Office: Shibuya, Tokyo; Representative Director: Shingo Kunieda; hereinafter referred to as ‘pixiv’) will release the stable version of VRoid Studio, a 3D character creation software, through the VRoid Project.

VRoid Studio is a 3D humanoid model creation program, intuitive and easy to use for creating original avatars. After the launch of the first beta back in August 2018, we've kept updating it as we paid close attention to your feedback. This time around we rebuilt it from scratch to implement what you've wished for in order to bring you the best possible experience, and what we think is going to be the future in the creation of 3D avatars. The software is available for both Windows and Mac, on our website and on Steam.
■ VRoid Studio's Strengths
In VRoid Studio, you can create humanoid 3D models.
・Easy-to-use, intuitive software
Face features, body shape, outfits — everything is customizable in infinite ways. Even first-time users can fully enjoy the software by picking preset items and playing around with the parameters' sliders.
・As easy as drawing on paper
Creating 3D chunks of hair is literally as easy as doodling on paper. With this software, people can use the inbuilt pen tool and create new hair as they draw; color, length, shape, flow direction, bounciness, and much more are all editable from the parameters section.
・Edit 3D models in real-time
Users can check in real-time how their edits are affecting the model with the 3D preview. Editing outfits, as well as details in the hair or eyes, has never been easier. This software supports digital pens and is pressure-sensitive. Furthermore, textures and designs can be arranged in different layers, making it easy for experienced designers to work with.
・More than 350 items ready to use
You can start creating right after download: with many ready-to-use preset items, you won't need to create anything from scratch. There are hairstyles, make-up, outfits, and many more to pick and mix. Everything can be edited and re-saved as a custom item.
・Your models are yours to use freely
For every model you create on VRoid Studio you can set your own terms of use, specifying if you give permission for commercial use, credits, etc.
* When using the data for models created by pixiv or third parties, please be sure to follow the terms of use and licensing conditions.
■The New VRoid Studio and its New Features
Here are some of the most interesting features exclusive to the stable version of VRoid Studio.
1. Expressing yourself just got even better with the Face Editor!
Faces can intuitively be modified using facial parameters. Over 100 different sliders await you in this new release, including eyes and nose shape, contour lines, neck thickness, and many more customizable features that weren't available in the beta versions! And you'll have way more control now that the face components have grown from 7 to 16. Furthermore, up until this point, parameters were categorized into “male” and “female” categories. This has been changed to a gender-neutral approach, allowing for a much wider range of characters.
2. It's now possible to wear glasses, furry ears, etc with the Accessories Feature Shape, length, and many other features are customizable via more than 10 parameters, giving you much more freedom in changing the appearance of your accessories. You'll be able to intuitively design glasses, cat ears, rabbit ears, and more for your model, and then have them wear it! We have more accessories in the works, so keep looking forward to new updates!
3. Enjoy virtual fashion even more with the Overlay Feature
The creation of 3D character fashion, dubbed “Avatar Wear'', is a critical part of VRoid Studio. In this version, you're finally able to have your model wear multiple outfits at the same time. You can have fun creating a unique silhouette combining numerous outfit templates, or simply overlay more clothes for a cute layered look.
Furthermore, on the VRoid official YouTube channel, you can access a multitude of tutorials and feature introduction videos, including those about the Accessories and Overlay features. We will continue to add more videos in the future to help our community in their Next Creations.

With this feature you'll be able to bring your beta model's .vroid data to the stable version. Rest assured that no file will be automatically converted or changed in any way if you decide not to use this feature.
