New Gameplay Details Revealed for Koei Tecmo's Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake: Destiny and Strategy Expansion Pack Bundle

Treasures and Turning Points Influence Both Battles and Internal Affairs

BURLINGAME, Calif. – Nov. 13, 2025 – Today, KOEI TECMO America and developer Kou Shibusawa revealed new information about the ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS series' 40th anniversary title: ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE: Destiny and Strategy Expansion Pack Bundle, detailing the finer points of the added “Treasures” and “Turning Points” features. The tactical strategy game will be available in North America digitally on Windows PC via Steam® on Jan. 29, 2026.

ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE: Destiny and Strategy Expansion Pack Bundle is a bundle of ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8, the first large-scale remake in the ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS series, and the “Destiny and Strategy Expansion Pack,” adding many new elements to the tactical simulation. One of the new features added is “Treasures,” which enables new commands to be obtained or increase abilities, allowing players to grow their officer as they wish. Not only can treasure types vary according to status, but by unlocking “Treasures,” players will be able to do things that were not possible until now, changing the ways the gameplay can be enjoyed. For example: governor types can increase the loyalty of subordinates or increase public attitude, making life easier as a city administrator. 

Additionally, players can create their own limitless RTK experience by utilizing the various treasure types to their fullest possibilities. Examples include “Foresight” which is obtainable by the Tacticians and allows officers that have already acted to do so again; “Overwhelm” which is obtainable by warriors and drastically increases the winning rate for duels; or even “Assaults”, which villains can use against other officers.

Also added to the game is the new “Turning Points” feature, enabling players to completely change the situation on the battlefield. “Turning Points” increase the chances of “Opportunities” arising due to the passage of time or in reaction to other forces. Additionally, by fulfilling specific tactical conditions, it can lead to a “Chance” taking place that can activate certain “Turning Points.”

Though “Turning Points” can be confirmed at any point, if there are many options it might not be possible to predict which one will be triggered. Therefore, players will have to show their skills when choosing which “Turning Point” to aim for and if they need to take any countermeasures. Various “Turning Points” include “Invasion of Foreign Tribes” in which foreign tribes are stationed in several cities, and “Decisive Battles,” in which several units from different cities march into battle at once. Depending on the triggered “Turning Point,” the battle situation might shift completely.

ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE: Destiny and Strategy Expansion Pack Bundle is currently in development and is scheduled for release digitally on Jan. 29, 2026 on Windows PC via Steam®. The game will include Japanese and Chinese voices with English texts only.

Everyone who purchases a digital edition of ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE: Destiny and Strategy Expansion Pack Bundle up to the first two weeks after release will receive the “Loyal Han Retainer Ma Teng” scenario as an early purchase bonus.
