Sugoi Co Acquires 3 Catalogue Films of Renowned, Oscar® Nominated Director Mamoru Hosoda

Sugoi Co announced today it has acquired the Australia and New Zealand distribution rights to 3 films of award-winning director Mamoru Hosoda, internationally renowned for critically acclaimed animated feature films such as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Wolf Children.
Six of director Mamoru Hosoda's features have been nominated for, and five have been awarded, the Japan Academy Prize for “Animation of the Year.” Hosoda remains the only Japanese animation director outside of the famed Studio Ghibli to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature.
With this deal, Sugoi Co is committed to expanding the reach and furthering the brand of Studio Chizu and director Hosoda by bringing these titles to the Australia and New Zealand audience in renewed ways.
This begins on January 15th with a festival of 3 films featuring Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Wolf Children coming back to cinemas for one weekend only in brand new 4K remastered prints.
This will then be followed by Home Entertainment and Digital releases of all 3 films starting in February 2026 featuring Collector's Edition and Steel-Book Blu-Ray and UHD Blu-ray editions for the first time.
Tickets will go on sale for the festival starting in late December from participating cinemas.
