Takumi, the nerdy outcast, harbors unrequited feelings for his first love, Mone, who treats him with disdain. During computer class, Takumi discovers that his mouse cursor extends beyond the screen and into the physical world. With this newfound power visible only to him, Takumi sees an opportunity for mischief. He uses the cursor to get revenge on Mone, clicking on sensitive areas and reveling in her reactions. But when an "Intercourse" button appears unexpectedly, Takumi is thrust into a reality he never imagined possible.

Now That I Can Control Reality With A Mouse Cursor is based on the Click Me All Over manga by Okumaro. The anime series is streaming on OceanVeil on Fridays.

Now That I Can Control Reality With A Mouse Cursor, I’m Gonna Click Away On The Girls! is a short-form adult animated series that fits pretty cleanly into the Master PC genre of erotic fiction. For those unfamiliar, Master PC stories feature a protagonist who discovers a computer program (or smartphone application in more modern stories) that allows them to edit reality to varying degrees. As you would expect in erotic fiction, this almost always leads to the (usually male) main character having sex to varying fantastical degrees with the people around him.

That's pretty much exactly how the first episode of Mouse Cursor plays out, with our down bad main character lusting after his bombshell childhood friend, Mone, to a frankly off-putting degree. He's a big ol' dork (and giving incel vibes) though, so of course he doesn't stand a chance with her, until his mouse cursor magically flies off his screen during computer class and can click on objects in the real world. He uses this to click on Mone's bust, which makes her uncontrollably aroused, and the two nearly end up hooking up in the nurse's office, and the episode ends with the MC realizing he can pull up an irl context menu with his magical mouse.

While I appreciate Mouse Cursor's acknowledgement that the socially perceived value of computer knowledge is falling as smartphones with a high ease of use are becoming more popular, and this show offers subtextual pushback against that trend, I didn't like this episode very much. The main character is super whiny and unlikable, and the show so far does very little to distinguish itself from other works in this genre. While this could definitely change, and it turns out that this show is a slow burn with its more interesting ideas being saved for later episodes, I'm skeptical of this taking place.

In the Master PC premise of erotic fiction, literally ANYTHING can happen! The main character and anyone around him can be shapeshifted into whatever sexual shape they choose!! Social norms can be adjusted to accommodate otherwise taboo trysts!!! The only constraint is the creativity of the people behind the work, which currently appears to be very limited, as this episode just features the MC making his already hot childhood friend like him again. Also, with the expectation of sex that the main character his hoisting upon Mone in the episode's opening moments, I doubt this show is going to be able to navigate the dubious consent issues baked into this premise.

Maybe things will get more interesting in the second episode, but I'm not holding my breath for Now That I Can Control Reality With A Mouse Cursor, I’m Gonna Click Away On The Girls!.

Obviously I don't come to hentai reviews to kinkshame anybody; that would defeat the purpose. But can I at least kink-askew? I understand everyone has their own inclinations toward intercoursal interests, and lord knows computer usage was most people's introduction to pornography these days. So, sure, computer mouse hentai. We've all already clicked on vulnerable anime characters on a screen before, so what if you could do that in real life? So goes the fantasy of Takumi, a persecuted computer geek who's going to use his newfound tricky click powers to get ravishing revenge on all those mean girls—starting with his nominal childhood friend Mone, of course.

Look, at least the intent of hentai means that the "heroes" can be completely up-front and honest about their desires compared to so many purity-repressed leads in "regular" guy-targeted rom-coms. But Takumi's point of pleasure can be…odd to those not steeped in the computer mouse thing. At the outset, it's all rooted in provoking reactions out of Mone without any direct touching, contact, or any sort of physical release on his part. It's hands-off molestation that still undercuts the non-con element by throwing in a remark from Mone about how she actually thinks it feels good. In that respect, I guess that at least makes Takumi a service top?

The thing is, the various anime-girl-touching games out there click because of the active input and player agency in fondling these virtual vixens. Take the control away, and all a series like this has is the standard starting hentai moans, twitches, and close-ups, but with the unintentional hilarity of mouse-click sound effects added over it. Add in the fact that even in a series like this I can't escape the scourge of isekai-ass status message windows, and it's no wonder this basic beginning did nothing for me. Maybe in the next episode where Takumi gets to proceed with actual penetration, and they extrapolate on how the mouse clicks affect the way he sticks his dick, it'll be more interesting, but for now this software free trial isn't selling me on it.

If it seems odd that I'm spending this much time interrogating and criticising the premise of this hentai short, it's because the sauciness itself has no sauce on it. Modern hentai budgets are what they are; it's why this is a short instead of a full-length episode in the first place. But even the scant cels on display here vacillate between off-model faces and anatomy and bodies heaving with few frames of animation. If it weren't for those mouse-clicks, viewers would be forgiven for being uncertain anything was going on in the first place!

The ending theme starting out composed with a cacophony of mouse clicks was pretty funny though; I'll give this one an extra half-point for that. Still, this isn't really worth it; just skip the show and play an actual hentai game instead. Besides, everyone knows it's better when you can hold the mouse button to wiggle and move bits around, rather than just clicking.
