A stage play adaptation of Miho Obana's shōjo manga Kodocha - Sana's Stage (Kodomo no Omocha) has been green-lit. Nelke Planning will open the production next summer to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Shueisha's Ribon magazine
Akitarō Daichi, the director of the Kodocha television anime, is also writing and directing the stage play. Ribon and the play's official website will announce the cast and other details.
The story revolves around the popular child actress Sana Kurata and the problem child in her sixth-grade class, Akito Hayama. The manga ran in Ribon from 1994 to 1998, and it won the shōjo category of the 22nd Kodansha Manga Awards.
Tokyopop published the manga in North America, and Funimation released the television anime.
