Police from Tokyo's Itsukaichi Station announced on Thursday that they arrested a 25-year-old unemployed male resident of the Nishiaraihoncho neighborhood in Tokyo's Adachi ward on Tuesday for allegedly sending death threats to Nogizaka46 idol group member Mai Shiraishi over Twitter.
According to authorities, the suspect DAIKI Katsumata allegedly sent death threats to Shiraishi over Twitter multiple times from December 2015 to this month, threatening to "catch and strangle" her. Katsumata denied the allegations.
The police said that the agency for Nogizaka46 saw Katsumata's threats and notified the authorities.
Shiraishi starred in the live-action Asahinagu film, which opened in Japan last September.
