Ragnarok Online Anime

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Gung-Ho Entertainment will adapt the popular MMORPG into an anime.

Gung-Ho Entertainment announced this week that it is working to adapt the popular Korean massively multiplayer role-playing game, Ragnarok Online, into an anime series. Production of the anime will be co-funded by Gravity, the company behind the creation of the game. Myung-Jin Lee, the original artist of the Ragnarok comic book, will create the character-conceptual designs, while Kenji Shinohara will transform these into working character designs for the anime. The anime will be directed by Seiji Kishi and produced by Yoshiyuki Asai.

GameSpot points out that, although Ragnarok Online is not popular with English speaking gamers, it is wildly successful in Asia, with 300 000 subscribers in Japan and 1.6 million in Taiwan.
