AX Responds to Dealer Room Issues

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Unexpected resignation causes delays, problems for exhibitors at AX.

Due to the unexpected resignation of the Anime Expo Hall Department Head, exhibitors for California's largest anime convention were left without information about their reservations.

The AX exhibitor contract was only made available to the public on March 14th, making the $550 early booking rate seem completely unattainable to many exhibitors. Furthermore, the Exhibition hall map, which some felt was necessary to properly select booths, had not been posted until April 2nd, beyond the $600 booth rate deadline.

Jennifer Pon, Chairperson of Anime Expo 2004 explained to ANN that a new Exhibit Hall Department Head is in place, and AX is dealing with the situation. She explained to us that exhibitors who expressed interest in registering prior to April 2nd will automatically be extended the $550 rate.

“Exhibitors who made a commitment to rent a booth at the end of AX2003 were given the discount rate of $550 per booth, as well as all exhibitors who committed before the original February 1st deadline.

“However, we do not want to inconvenience vendors because of our internal delays, so Anime Expo is also extending the $550 discount rate as a courtesy to all exhibitors who expressed an indication of interest or made a good-faith inquiry between February 2nd and April 1st. Any inquiries or registrations submitted between April 2-May 1 will pay $600 per booth. For all exhibitors who have overpaid, refunds will be made after the close of the convention as per our normal policy. Any registrations postmarked on May 1st or afterwards will be subject to the regular rate of $700 per booth, and vendors registering at the door will be charged $800 per booth.

“We thank all of our exhibitors for their understanding in allowing us these delays, and we regret if this has caused any major inconvenience to our customers.”

Furthermore Ms. Pon states that Lynn Kurtz, the new Exhibit Hall Department Head, is currently responding to all e-mail enquiries regarding the dealer's room in 2-3 business days.
