Steamboy in America in October

No Simultaneous Release
Following it's July 17th release in Japan, Katsuhiro Ōtomo's Steamboy will be released in North America and Parts of Europe (England, France and Italy) this October. According to Yahoo Japan the North American release date was picked in part to make sure that the movie would be eligible for an Oscar at next year's Academy Awards.
With Innocence Ghost in the Shell having competed at Cannes, and the International accolades that were heaped upon Spirited Away, the producers of Steamboy believe that the chances of more Anime competing for an Oscar and other international awards are very good.
At 2.4 Billion Yen, Steamboy may be the most expensive anime ever produced (US$21.6 Million).
