So....I finished Crime Edge and Maou-sama, my two favorite shows this season.........and now I am sad. Sad I would love for a few of you to state what your best current or recent series are/were this year....so I can start some new ones. Smile

I like cutesy shows and I like romance (A LOT) and comedy...but I also like dramatic, dark angsty stuff as well. (if all that is combined, fantastic!) Fanservice isn't a big problem (but it can't carry the series alone) Pretty artwork is a big plus. I tend to shy away from sci-fi themes or mech...because it's really hard for me to follow what is going on. (I'm just very stupid when it comes to that stuff Anime hyper)

I particularly get attached to character-driven shows-a good plot is only a bonus.

Anime I already watched/following/plan to try:

InuxBoku SS (excited for this!)
Red Data Girl
Tonari No Kaibutsu-kun
Yahari Ore No Seishun (Romantic Youth Comedy)
Oreimo
Little Busters!
Amnesia (it failed. Sad
AKB0048 Second Stage
Sword Art Online
Chihayafuru

Thanks. :3

Just finished watching Gurren Lagann and I'm feeling utterly drained.

I just wanna watch something that's the opposite of that, but still has a relatively hopeful ending. I don't think I can handle more heroes being awesome.

Lol. I would recommend Azumanga Daioh then. It is a slice-of-life high school comedy with an all-female main cast. Pretty much as opposite of Gurren Lagann as you can get.

Beyond that, I'm not really sure what to say. What are your tastes? It would be easier to recommend something if your My Anime list was public and we could see what you like.

1. Select "Customize My Categories".

2. Click on "edit" for the category you want visible.

3. Tick the box for "Allow public to see this category".

But I'm insane.

I can't really rate anime fairly. An anime could be technically proficient and I can still be really angry at it (like Gurren Lagann)

So i recently started watching " His and Her Circumstances," i'm through about the first four episodes. And often during the show they break into these extra 'cartooney' versions of the characters for comedic effect. i'm sure you all know what i'm talkin about, i've seen this is a bunch of different anime and i'm just curious if there is a word / name for this.

I just started this anime but i think they do a wonderful job mixing it in and would like to know other good anime like this, with the playful 'cartooney' stuff mixed in with a serious-ish slice of life type anime.

I just got back into anime after some time off and i realize that there is probably a really broad range to choose from here, but some do it better than others and i would just like to hear some personal opinions / suggestions.

Thank you sir. I appreciate the quick response.

I'm a little dissapointed though, i thought there would be a more technical term seeing as how common it is.

"Chibi" is the Japanese term, but it essentially means the same thing.

Any anime that contains cyberpunk, dystopia, angst, thriller, dark, tragedy?. Only thriller is in your genre list, and i've seen all the recommendations ;p

@Bread_Sticks. I did a year of Japanese as a minor in my first year of university, and I've tried to keep studying it in my own time since. I'm certainly nowhere near fluent, but I can watch kids' shows/read kids manga and pretty much understand what's going on. The most recent show I managed to watch without subtitles and understand most of was Mamotte! Lollipop.
