EXCELLENT.

Yeah I love Gankutsuou but I can see how the patterns could be off putting to some.

Panel two; Nina sticking her bum out like that is ADORABLE.

I have a friend who couldn't watch Gankutsuou precisely because of the problem Nina has. ^^; Funny thing is another friend of mine and myself had no problems at all. So weird. >>

I was able to finish watching the show as well, but must admit that the animation style takes a fair bit of getting used to.

I can confirm your suspicions on that one. Must be the annual "you get the referrenced in-joke or you really, really, really won't" strip. Though the comments helped fill in the blanks much faster than last time.

I wonder if folks' with "regular" motion-sickness are more likely to succumb to this.

Interesting topic this week.

I actually blind-bought Gakutsuou, and while I've only gone through Vol. 1 so far, I liked what I saw. Here's hoping that it's worth it.

Yet another indication that maybe you should take a break after watching anime for that long >>

Coincidence? I JUST finished marathoning Gankutsuou for the first time last night, after buying it blind from Bamboo's Shelf Life a couple of weeks ago (conspiracy, anyone?). Absolutely placed in my top 20, maybe 10, now. And yeah, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei helps prepare you for the animation style, but it's not the same level at all. All the Gonzo bashing recently... forget it. Loved it. Just caught up with the strip and liking it, too.

Another great comic this week. Smile

Reminds me of when I first saw Gankutsuou--when I first saw how the characters' clothing patterns didn't move with them, I was like "WTF?" but got used to it and came to enjoy the show for what it is.

And then once you get used to it, you start to think that it's the most beautiful anime that you've ever seen. Oh, Gankutsuou, how I adore thee... Anime smile

Except not dumb. Actually most stuff is dumb compared to Gankutsuou. It's based off of a high class French book.
