70 theaters isn't bad but it should be more. I think something like 400-500 theatres is appropriate.

Or at least spread them out more. 400-500 is probably generous, especially since Gibli films don't even get that.

Well, I guess this is good if you're a beady eyed mouth-flapping Canadian, but it means nothing to any East coaster in the real world. Why Canada, was it cheaper to get the movies on screens there or something? I sure do hope they expand it to places that count.

They need more theatres, imo.

Fullmetal Alchemist had more, as far as I recall.. and not only that, but they had multiple showings on multiple occasions!

Kind of curious as to why Canada has more screenings than the USA (not that I would say that the Canadians should get any less than the Americans;). Maybe more screenings will happen at a later date for the people elsewhere in the USA? Any answers?

If I had the money and the time, I'd make the 5 hour drive to Toronto (as I think that's the closest theatre it's playing in to me).

But I guess I'll just have to wait for the DVD, as for usual.

Wish they'd give Columbus or Pittsburgh some love.

I second that - send some stuff to Pittsburgh, please!

Y'know, I've noticed that there are a fair few people from Columbus here in Pittsburgh since moving here.

Seriously, though, the east coast needs more love, because I'd jump at this if there was a showing that was a reasonable distance away D:

Ah, decisions, decisions. Do I watch this at the Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto which is literally a 30 second walk away from where I work, or should I see it at the Yonge & Eg Silvercity which is about a 25 minute walk away from where I live?

Gawd, don't you just hate when you have to make choices like this? Twisted Evil

Ha ha, okay, now that I've got that annoying nyah-nyah-nyah out of my system, let me just say how cool this is. Getting to see anime on the big screen is a rare treat.

Well, since this version isn't 1.11 (run time fo 1.0 is 2 minutes shy of 1.11's 100 min. run time), I'm not that upset about my area not being on the list.

Congrats to those who will see it in the theater.

Let me know when the most recent version of movie 1 is in the theater instead. Wink

Probably going to hit Windsor. Anyone know where that is? If it were Downtown that'd be perfect. If not...well. I don't mind a drive.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the distributor Eleven Arts Inc. probably has some sort of pre-existing distribution arrangement with Cineplex-Odeon/Famous Players, which operates the vast majority of first-run screens in Canada.

The ANN article stated that FUNi is now streaming a trailer for the dub. Am I just not finding it somehow, or did they remove it? Confused

EDIT: It's working now. Weird.

OK, seriously as many of Florida's cons as Funi comes to, give us some love, have some showings in the South! I've driven three hours to Jacksonville for a concert, I'd do that easily for the first dubbed Eva movie in, what, ten years?
