what some fans really want is a US release of the mangas. it's wayy too long overdue. Kodomo no Jikan i can get and the reason why some manga companies here in the US will avoid it like a plauge, but i am preety sure elfen lied is not like kodomo no jikan at all.

Yeah, Kodomo no Jikan's manga is good and doesn't have the shittiest art ever in a professional manga.

I didn't meant it like that guys. i mean of the massive fanservice difference.

Sure there was the S&M treatment of Nana, but i believe that and of course those nude shots of Nyu/Lucy & a possible family complex may be it whereas it's uber loli fanservice on kodomo no jikan that most manga companies has avoided the series like a plauge.

16,800 yen is a bit overpriced for a show that is likely upscaled. If it was remastered/reconstructed I would have been more than happy to pay the price. It's not really worth it even for the collector's item.

As you said, it will be upscaled and there's no way to "remaster" something digital unless they print it to film and then telecine that, which would add absolutely nothing but grain. How good it will look depends on how good it looked originally and how well they upscale it by playing with all their pretty little settings and filters.

Friends of mine have read the manga off the net and they all had the same thing to report: "Do not read it. The anime ends just at the right time".

Regardless I wonder if this BD box is an upscale. If it is I couldn't care more about it. If it is some kind of retouched high definition version I do hope it becomes available outside of Japan one of those days.
