I'm gonna guess that this is why the anime got canceled. Like everyone else said, that's some amazing dedication to your craft right there.

Have they definitely dropped it? Amazon.co.uk and bookdepository.co.uk both still list Vol. 9 as coming out on the 22nd of this month. |

Yeah, I don't know where this talk of it having been cancelled is coming from. I'd better catch up in fact, I've only read up to volume 6. This is sad news; hopefully though, working on the manga was something that he enjoyed in his final days rather than an obligation. I have to admit though I'm curious as to how his battle with cancer may have affected his writing style close to the end... |

Looks like it. Del Rey's site only lists up through vol. 8, and there's no listing for vol. 9 on Amazon.com or Right Stuf, either. |

Oh, no! He was one of my favourite manga artists, and I absolutely love his art style. What a shame to see him go.
I just hope there's an anime made, it's one way of letting his work live on a bit longer. |

Wow he was seemed really dedicated to finish it if something happened. I'm completely saddened by this and in honor of his dedication, I'm definitely going to buy this series. Really hope DelRey will decide to pick up this series again. So many great people in Japan are dying. It sucks.
 Anyways, I send my condolences to his friends and family.

I really think that a company should make a bigger push to do the anime now.Of course not Gonzo as originally planned (and failed to get it off ground) perhaps madhouse could.
