This is one of the best ever! I love it! It's been way too long since the last time the comic made a proper reference to Nina's elvish heritage. (Is this part of a series? Please? Maybe for a compilation book?)

It's called "shopping around" and sometimes the brick and mortar stores actually have better prices on things. (I saved like $15 bucks on Gundam 00 LEs from Movie Stop vs. Right Stuf recently.)

Plus, you miss out on all the fun moments of idiocy when you're just at the computer ordering. You miss watching a man trying to buy out-of-print DVDs that were short runs to begin with from nearly a decade ago for instance.

Also I enjoy people watching. It's fun to watch the masses scurry about like the senseless insects they really are. Wink *

*Note: In case the Wink doesn't register, this is meant to be a joke and if you don't find it funny, that's okay, because my sense of humor has been warped and twisted by years of pornography and violent video games. I'm one Twinkie away from a rampage man!

Oh course it gets worse at a Lord of the Rings convention.

(She accepts the ring of power and all the fan boys love her and despair)

Like a Salmon returning home. All Elves must come to Santa's aid. It's like a primordial urge or some junk.

Must be in her ancestry. No one with elven blood can resist the call of Santa.

LOL That's what I was thinking! Like the elven pied piper. Or the Santa reserved army.

I am also surprised that no one has made an icon out of frames 5, 6, or 7 yet.

Poor Nina. Anime hyper But at least she looks cute in the elf outfit.
I'm so glad that I did my shopping over a month in advance - made life SO much easier compared to those shopping at the last minute.

The comic made so much more sense when everyone explained the primordial calling. I thought Nina was just getting lost and became Santa's elf so she could wait for Kevin and Paola to come pick her up. I can imagine Nina hearing the hypnotic choir calling to her like some instinct long forgotten Anime hyper

The last panel I got, it's the first one I'm confused about. Is Paola trying to have them cross a river in a boat that only seats two, or strategize for optimum shopping efficiency?

Christmas lost it's meaning to me when I worked retail.

Ugh, it's like the holidays bring out the worst in people.

I only had trouble my first year (2005) at Toys R Us, after that customers have generally been more well-behaved. Sure, you get the total jerk or "Mister/Miss-Know-It-All" (whose usual argument is: "IF IT'S ON SALE, THAT MUST MEAN YOU HAVE IT IN STOCK!" Me: Sir/Maam, contrary to popular belief, other customers are fully within their rights to purchase an item that isn't on sale before it goes on sale later on. If you still have a problem with that, you are free to hunt down these individuals and demand that they stop exercising their rights as fellow customers."), but they're hardly the norm.

People on Black Friday were also well-behaved mostly (well, except some moron who threw up EXACTLY at the entrance door. You really couldn't turn your head to the left/right, could you?!). Of course, it's in their best interest, since if a customer becomes too loud/angry or tries to run through the store, we are allowed by our supervisors to yell at them. That usually makes most customers step back. Smile

ANYWAY, cute comic this week. Hope everyone has a merry Christmas! (and if you celebrate Hannukah/Kwanzaa/Festivus, than "Happy ______!" to you too)

I wish there were a special edition of ANN where the three are standing in the checkout lane while a little old lady is dishing out pennies to finalize her bill...

...to which she exclaims "Oh my! I forgot the pudding! BRB!"

I can't recall the last mall I entered in the mortal world. Really.

Nina's predicament is being felt by me as I continually think of how in the world I ended up being in 15 different places on the 25th of December.
Anime cry

You would be surprised. People go to malls all the time. Not just old people. I've seen everyone from pre-teens to teens to people in their 30s. Sorry, but people still go.

Great comic this week Robin. Nina's Elf senses kick in.

That would be interesting to see (except the fanboy part) can't it be all who love her and despair? Embarassed Wink Nina deserves more decent fans than fanboys. Cool

My Christmas isn't anything like that... Inside my house xD Since our tree is outside.
My Christmas will be spent playing Tales of Vesperia, doing homework, and listening to music. (And a bunch of family time crap.)

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and all that.

It's a catch-22 fan related events are like kryptonite to non-fans.

Besides how would non-fans break thru a phalanx of LOTR FANS in a pon farr-like state all screaming 'we must protect the precious!'

Mixed metaphors much? Hell yeah!
