Then again, I live in the UK, so the likes of Katie Price has set an unassaillably high bar for the kind of behaviour Hirano seems to get slammed for.


It's a cultural thing in Japan where idols are suppose to embody perfection which includes having a clean image and no dating. Aya and now several new seiyuus are breaking this tread by starting in TV acting and dating, while it is considered normal over in the West, but in Japan, it is considered scandalous for an idol dating and for some obsessive fans, they considered it a betrayal that their idol is dating which in twisted, horrible logic makes that idol a "slut".
