Oi. How did this turn into a discussion about the written language of Japanese?

Beats me. I guess it started to vary when we went on about mis-translations.

TokyoPop would be a good choice. Their Manga are fairly cheap and decently translated

True, but do you think they'll get the licence?

The answer: No one knows...since this is all speculation...
What is the point of this thread anyway? I mean, why just sit here and think, "Oh, I wonder who will get this license? I hope they don't because such and such could get translated wrong..." Bah.

Hey, for all you know, one of our speculations might/probably will be right. Not to mention, people with different info might bring something tangible into this speculation.

Well since there are only about 4 manga companies out here, someone has to be right.

Actually, there are more, Broccoli Books, ADV, Tokyopop, DarkHorse, IronCat, CPM Manga, Del Ray, Viz, ect.
But now who would Square-Enix most likely to give it to.
Our speculation could be compared to what they do at Video Game sites, talking about speculations on upcoming games. It's something to do while we wait for the said event to happen.

Which is why littlegreenwolf said "about 4," not "only 4."

It being a title with a giant fanfollowing and so forth makes it most likely to have a giant price tag attached to it. For all we know Gangan/Square-Enix could be waiting to sell it to the highest bidder. Going by that automatically crosses out small companies such as Iron Cat and CP Media. I forgot about brocoli books. But anyway, that still really only leaves ADV, Tokyopop, Viz, Del Rey, and maybe Dark Horse to compete.

Please list these 20 companies of manga distribution here in the US. And please no branch companies if they're part of a larger company such as Tokyopop.

As littlegreenwolf already explained, there are really only 4-ish main "contenders" for FMA. Sure there are LOTS of publishing companies, but TP, Viz, and ADV basically rule the manga industry.

Will post list tomarrow, when I can get down to the store. It's there "claim to fame" In my area. It'd be fun to see if they really do have the 20 companies they claim to sell onany one given day.
I'm as interested as you to find out.
(And yes, posting late at night after working on a stupid sword that didn't work out right tends to make me a bit of an A--)

Money is on Viz to get it. Or we're all wrong and someone else get's the rights. Or Square does the impossible and produces the thing on it's own.
