Maybe the good news is once G4 gets rebranded into oblivion/yet another channel about nothing, maybe some new channel will try something similar to the original TechTV concept. It seems that in the last few years, G4 wasn't even trying. I'd stopped watching XPlay and AotS quite a long time ago but I'd still watch their game reviews on Video on Demand from time to time. Then, even those basically disappeared. Apparently, it must be more profitable to run 12 hour blocks of Cops reruns instead of something like Anime Unleashed but I really have to wonder if whoever is still watching G4 these days is really a prime advertising demographic.

These shows were the only reasons I watched G4. I guess they just lost a viewer.

Sorry to chop up your post like that, but since you mentioned it: Kevin Pereira is the host, and Adam Sessler is one of three judges, for the upcoming SyFy reality competition series "Viral Video Showdown". (I think the first episode airs on October 30th?) It's not surprising that they found work so quickly, it's more a question of the show managing another season. |

Those shows were the only reason I used to watch G4, now I won't be sad I couldn't get G4 on direct tv anymore.

There's always bias anywhere. Even if it was in Japan, it'd be all visual novels and JRPGs static 2D pixels; so no variety neither. But...............
.......... the key is counterbalance. Not many people could do everything because everybody has bias, and that's OK. The key is to pair people with complementing biases. That's why in a political discussion, it'd have at least a Democrat side and a Republican side, so ya have differing perspectives, not just one who always loves something or one who always hates something; a Cheech to a Chong. |

Not really sad to see them go personally. I use to watch TechTV sometimes way back when and use to watch G4 for Ninja Warrior and AoTS when I had DirecTV. I never cared much for X-Play because they always seemed to just review FPS and I could really care less about FPS.
Before DirecTV canceled carrying G4 a while back I use to look at the line-up and just see nothing but giant blocks of COPS and Cheaters repeats and wonder who thought that this was appropriate on a channel directed towards gamers and tech geeks. And now with a possible rebranding? What are they going to do put reruns of Judge Judy and WWE on there as well? Why they have not just rename it to SpikeTV2 yet is beyond me. |
