The desperation factor. Personally, I prefer cuddling to sex anyway, but this isn't even meaningful human contact at all. Basically, you're paying someone just to be in your general vicinity. I do find that a bit depressing and disturbing.

I guess regular old prostitution is easier for me to accept because of how well-established it is, but even so the fundamental idea of having sex with a total stranger or even someone you barely know is in itself pretty bizarre. I understand that it feels good and all, but when one isn't involved in some genuine relationship, there's other ways to achieve the physical sensation with a lot less hassle and risk. You can't buy the emotional bond, so why even bother having someone else present?

Dunno why anyone would consider this creepy. So its creepy to lie next to a woman, but it isn't if you shag her? It is a poor world we live in.

Put yourself into her.......um,,,over the knee socks and imagine looking at him through her eyes. Laughing

When I do that I hear her saying to me: "I know what you think, and you're not wrong, but times are tough and I need the money."

In the case of the special services, does someone stand next to you with a stopwatch and physically monitor that you've done something for one minute? Wouldn't that ruin the experience?

In the event of a 5-10 hour stay, what's the girl supposed to do? Is she supposed to sleep as well, or is she permitted to text, read, get up and use the restroom? And what happens if she snores, or...drools? Does the patron then get a discount on his stay if he is not perfectly satisfied that she is the emotionless waifu he ordered?

I guess it's only a matter of time before a host club offers the same experience for female patrons.

^^^^------- What the Haiyore! Nyaruko anime shoulda been... The women you see here has simply gazed upon Cthulu himself and had her mind literally blown! How awesome is that! If only Haiyore! Nyaruko would do an about-face for season 2 and scare the crap out of the otaku!

An incredibly wierd and awesome French music video. I don't think it has any actual connection to anime.

Actually, DyE intentionally was going for an anime-like music video with this awesome H.P. Lovecraft inspired piece, a band member has said as much. I'm not sure if any anime production companies were involved, but it is certainly not unrelated.

Anyway, back on topic... Wow, just wow. One would think you've seen it all, but just how degenerate and desperate will male Japanese otaku get? It is sad and pathetic, if not totally creepy! I can't wait until their yakuza masters make the members of AKB do this!

Wow, this is just plain sad and pathetic to see and the implications here would be quite harrowing to say the least. Why does the mainstream love pandering to Otakus so much to the point of being laughable? I will never know.

It's not just Otaku. Older men might use this service.

Like I said, if you looked around, you'll find that a lot of these "odd" services aren't just relegated to Japan. I personally know a number of women who do "odd" services similar to this in North America, and make good money too.

If you look around, there are lots of people with odd occupations right at your doorstep. The difference is that Japan has a tendency to put their fetishes out in the open (which is sort of ironic, given the nation's reputation for being discreet) while in the west people keep their oddities under the table. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen here.

I don't know why we should care what someone else does privately as long as it's legal, though. If, for example, a man wants to dress up like a baby and pay a woman to spank him, that's his business. Same with paying a woman to sleep beside him and nothing else.

If you're gonna go all the way and pay that much, then why not go all the way?

On the other side of it, I'm sure many people here would rather get paid that much and do just that, right? Don't lie. Laughing

Hmm i don't believe the sex drive among the people in Japan is slacking lol. If anything it's skyrocketed since the 70s lol. Well their birth-rate hasn't, but sex drive has lol.

You say that but can you cite an scientific article that proves your statement?

Here ya go! Laughing

"Young Japanese women becoming less interested in sex, survey says"

  • For the past few years, Japan has been in a fuss about “soshoku danshi,” literally translated as “herbivore boys.” These are young men who represent the antithesis of the rowdy, skirt-chasing, big-spending corporate man associated with the 1980s bubble economy: they’re passive, conservative with money, prefer to stay in instead of going out drinking with coworkers and are generally uninterested in sex.

To make matters worse, a survey conducted by The Japanese Association for Sex Education (JASE) reveals that the number of young Japanese women who have had sex has decreased dramatically over the past 6 years.

Perhaps the ladies of Japan have finally given up on trying to get their male counterparts into bed and joined convent themselves.

While the percentage of sexually active female university and high school students had followed an upward trend since the survey began in 1974, it peaked in 2005 at about 60% for university students and 30% for high school students and then dropped to 47% for university students and 24% for high school students in 2011.

And it doesn’t stop there:according to the same survey, the percentage of students who have ever kissed dropped from 72% to 66% for university boys, 72% to 73% for university girls, 48% to 37% for high school boys and 52% to 44% for high school girls.

And that's even before we get into the phenomenon of sexless marriages.

@enurtsol

I think people and the article itself needs to differentiate between being interested in sex and successfully finding an ideal mate or potential husband. In fact the article's content contradicts its headline. If they became less interested, then why are they pursuing in the first place? If anything, the survey just reveals the women are very much interested despite less action but they are just being picky.

AV producer: One in 200 Japanese women performed in porn

Soapland brothel ban in Ishikawa onsen resort town steams residents
- if they were less interested in sex as (falsely) implied, why would they be pissed?

Tokyo times: Old boys still wanna have fun

The proliferation in love hotels, soaplands, magazines, host and hostess clubs, various services:
http://www.japanfortheuninvited.com/articles/sex-dolls.html
- sex doll shops for both men and women

NPB players shunning high-end soaplands for extra-inning erotic endeavors
Quote:
Sakae is famous for its clubs featuring hitozuma gals — or married women.

Japan’s first masturbation bar for women opens in Shibuya
- this was just a few days ago!

For the mainstream, outside view, most of the sex biz is not given much attention. It is very different from birthrate and marriage stats and surveys sent out to fill. But we have an idea about the biz by seeing the proliferation of all sorts of services and goods (sex toys, videos, eroge, otome-games, ero-figures, ero-manga for men and women,.. basically anything ero-related) offered for both men and women. If there is an real decline in actually being interested in sex i.e. sexual desire, then this would be reflected in the business--which having money at stake is a much more accurate indicator than surveys

I bet some women who can't find their find their ideal mate, all those complaining about "herbivores" in that article, are themselves using host clubs.

Even in Brazil, which has no problems, one interesting statistic is that women who move from rural areas to the city produce much fewer kids. But they're interest in sex hasn't declined. I read one Brazilian popular aphorism stating how it's because they're all watching soap operas, which indeed is popular (and drooling over various male celebrities, etc--indicating despite less kids, their own sexual desires hasn't been curbed)
