While I don't read Assassination Classroom, I really respect the author for sticking to his guns on this one, and ending it when he wants to, instead of continuing just because it's popular enough.

Looking at the chapter-to-episode ratio, this seems to be the case. Season 1 covered 73 chapters, which is about halfway through Volume 9.
Assuming these last few chapters can all be compiled into Volume 18, then the first season left off exactly half-way through the series. Finishing off Season 2 with the manga's ending is completely doable.

The anime could either rush to the finish and end right after the manga, or slow down a little to save enough material for a third season. There's a lot I want to see animated, so I'd be cool either way, as long as it's done right. The pacing has been pretty flexible, but I'd hate to see some of the later arcs cut down too much.

So this is ending and Nisekoi's looks to be ending in the next few months. Did anything get cancelled to make way for the two new series that are launching in Shonen Jump?

The manga will end before 2nd season anime finishes, so the 2nd season will cover until the end. They will have to cut out some stuff like they cut out Takebayashi's arc (Ch 77-79). I wonder what else they will cut out.

I've been following The series since the beginning, so seeing it end so soon is both relieving and sad.
Im excited to see this climax, especially how Class E and Koro-Sensei are going to handle the laser. That's really the only "antagonists" left, the laser and the government who made it. The main villains are dead, and the world knows about Koro-Sensei anyway. So at this point the only outcome I can see is either Koro-Sensei dying via the laser, or him suddenly returning to his human form, no tentacles whatsoever.
Either way I'm hoping this series gets the ending it deserves.

even before the announcement,it was pretty clear they were getting into the finale.Besides, the premise wouldn't allow this manga to be THAT long like Naruto and One Piece are.

Im still hoping we get a third season, though they keep occasionally not adapting some chapters, which is kind of disappointing at times.
Even if a 3rd season is just 12/13 episodes Id be fine.

I am quite fine with this.
I would rather have a good anime/manga than a dragged out one.
More authors should follow this example and rather release something of good quality as opposed to something that makes money.

These last few chapters of AssClass have not been of good quality though.

Considering the story had a clearly defined endpoint from day one, and the "it's all come down to this moment" atmosphere of the manga's current arc, I'm not too surprised.

The art could definitely be a little bit better, compared to some of the previous storylines.
