...We also had that when Saint Seiya ended in 1990. The franchise is still alive through spin-offs. Anime hyper Namely Lost Canvas, Episode G, Saintia Sho, Omega and Soul of Gold.

That's a lot of spin-offs for one franchise, but we can't forget Saint Seiya's been around since 1986, has always had a huge fandom and inspires lots of other authors. Gundam Wing, Bleach, Ronin Warriors and Shurato wouldn't exist without Saint Seiya.
