I personally liked this compared to Bodacious Space Pirates which I've put on hold since the 2nd episode.
The OP song is nice...which I was glad to hear again one last time in part 1 in the final few episodes of the episode and the action is there. There were a few fillers like the festivals and stuff but overall, a nice mecha series. The author mentioned that there is no romance in either this or Bodacious Space Pirates which I liked as it moves from the usual cliche. Also, loved the comedy and drama between the three main members of the Jersey Club :>
Great series overall for the first part in my estimate and I agree with the ratings Carl summed up in this review. |

Viz needs to release this on DVD with an English dub!
Simply wishful thinking on my part but it would be nice to own it. |

| So in other words, definitely worth checking out yet if you haven't, but wait till we're closer to the beginning of season 2, right? |

Only if you're really bad at the waiting game. Having watched this first half week by week, I can say that I've got no problem with the three month break; it gives the events so far time to settle, especially since it's in keeping with the in-series time skip.

Heh, yeah, well we'll see if Suzuki (I think he was the one that said it) stays the course in the second half. I doubted it from early on, and after all that hand-service* between Madoka and Lan in the last part of episode 12, I'm going to be cheering for their love to blossom as gloriously as Rin-ne right up to the finale.
*For those who haven't watched the show, that turn of phrase is literal, but not lewd.

Awesome show. Also Bodacious Space Pirates delivers. I can understand how some people can be put off by the slow pacing but for me it seemee like it faithfully took the time to build characters instead of presenting a jumbled mess like guilty crown did, introducing way too many characters whose subplots were rushed to closure.
Its probably giving it too much praise, but BSP impo had an awesome delivery in its plot, pacing, story and character development. |

Strictly speaking, his statement would have been more accurately translated as "There is no traditional romance" in the shows.
Its a fine, but important distinction. |

Hopefully this means Lan and Madoka's heartfelt moment will be redone for real in the second season. |

Liked the series for the coming of age aspect re Madoka. Opening song in the early episodes is quite the zinger. It really contributed to the energetic character artwork. Wish my ceilings looked that celestial! My favorite pilot was Muganami. Read so many pulps over the years I could relate to her failings moreso than Madoka and Lan.
I too bailed on BSP around episode 11 after 3 attempts to become a believer in the series. For me this series was much better. |

All I hope is that little movie Madoka and Lan were in Ep. 12 is foreshadowing into something greater. |

| This show is great fun. Waaaay better than the disappointment that Space Pirates ended up delivering. I'm totally there for the second half this Summer. |

| This review almost makes me want to go back and watch the rest of the series. Almost. It's not that I hated it, it's just that it didn't grab me. It failed to make a persuasive case of why I should watch it. Of course that hasn't stopped me from finishing a series before ([C], Fractale, et cetera) but still... |
