Since Code Geass made mention why not Villetta Nu instead of Kallen Stadfelt. Though I never watched this series (can't watch everything) Villetta is mentioned in the Wikipedia list of characters and Alpha Omega apparently thought she looked hot also: witness 4/2009 1/6th PVC figurine release swim club-cafe version. I saw a few on ebay. Oooh, la la. So hot I have to wear suntan lotion just to look.

I just remember, Super Dimensional Century Orgus, is that apocalypse when there was a dimensional bomb, not nuclear?

How about Blue Gender, apocalypse by female genitalia mouthed bugs, I think that at least deserves a special mention, and a lot of therapy for the character designers.

Soranowoto (Sound of the Sky) has an interesting setting, unique blend of cultures and a sense of hope/redemption in spite of all that happened. I haven't seen all the shows on the list, but for me this is the one to beat.

close second: The Third: The Girl With the Blue Eye Almost just because Honoka is so incredibly cool, but the premise and background scenery are also well done.

Kurogane Communication starts with one human left after the robot-war apocalypse.

spoiler[Utawarerumono] and spoiler[Scrapped Princess] are post-apocalyptic, but it's not revealed that they were until the very end of the show.

There's a lot of post-apocalyptic shows in the Yamato/Blue Sub category, where what's left of humanity is reduced to living in artifical environments... Big O, Wolf's Rain, Ergo Proxy...

Tide-Line Blue's apocalypse has a UN that's relevant. That's interesting in itself.

All this talk of apocalypse makes me hope I don't live long enough to see one, however far in the future it is.

Gilgamesh had an interesting apocalypse. The "sheltering sky" that shut down all electronics and transistor technology and prevented anyone from interacting with the upper atmosphere. The world self-destructed in the ensuing chaos.

I'll be honest: when she said "obvious Easter tie-in" I assumed we'd be voting on our favorite character coming back from the dead. But I guess that (1) that would be spoiler-y beyond all bounds and (2) probably tick some people off with the sacrilege.

There are so many apocalypses in anime that didn't make it here, but I like this list because it highlights some of the ones that get forgotten in the shadow of the more famous apocalyptic series. King of Thorn was a really neat manga; how was the movie?

What about Gundam X? And as for Bunny Girls I would go with Mikuru Asahina.
