Those Russian comanders totally spoiler[screwed up, but covered their asses by putting those kids as heroes, even though they even bombed said pilots, and apparently wiped them out dureing and after they managed to take out the lazer class.] It is sick to think any body of power like that could be one of the most powerful governing bodies left.
I would have hoped that Yuuya's testimony would be worth some sort of punishment for the obvious failure of morals that happened there. |

Even then there was no hard evidence and the word of a mere test pilot probably wouldn't have much weight against government officials.

I'm more saddened by the spoiler[death of Russian MILF.] She was a great mother figure to her platoon and, in some regards, Yuuya as well.
I guess this episode can serve as some insight of how messed up the governments can be in the Muv Luv Alternative universe and maybe the Unlimited universe, too. I'm looking at you, --beware some spoilers about the Alternative universe-- spoiler[Alternative V plans.] |

Mind you Alternative and Unlimited have the exact same timelines until they diverge in October with Takeru's appearence. Since Total Eclipse takes place in the summer months, the same stuff happened in Unlimited. |

I haven't been keeping track of the dates the events take place in Total Eclipse and I completely forgot about the divergence between Alternative and Unlimited. Then again, most of my knowledge of the series comes from the wikia page. I've been really tempted to play the VN triology but I'm far too lazy and busy to actually start on them (I also need to finish the Ever17 VN, too. . .)
Now that I remember the timeline, I'm further saddened that we may not get to see an animated Meiya. . . Well, she did appear in the Akane Maniax OVAs but only briefly. I'm still saddened that we might not be able to see her at all. At least we got a glimpse of Yuuhi. |

The epilouge of this ep says it's August 28th currently.
But yeah, really we all just want the original trilogy to get an anime already. It's still head scratching that we got a Total Eclipse anime first. I'd imagine that we might get the original if TE does well enough, but I don't have high hopes for that... Oh and if you want some (SD) Meiya, check out Ayumayu Theater too. |

Thanks, Vaisaga - just out of curiosity, how did you know that? Did you spoiler[recognize their mech? I have such a terrible memory that I could never remember who's mech looked like what.]

That's part of it. spoiler[The Terminator is one of the few non-Japanese TSF I recognise on sight (the head and chainsaw arms are the biggest tip off). But there's also how Jerzy Sandek, the dude who took charge of the cover up and spoke to Latrova when we last see her, is Inia and Cryka's handler. In previous episodes we've seen how the Scarlet Twins can get all shadowy-faced and evil looking in battle plus there probably isn't another single unit in the area powerful enough to take out the entire squad by itself.
Knowing their backstory also helps.] |
