OK, one question. I'm sure the answer is "more than zero" but honestly, how many people REALLY hold up "framerate" as the one thing keeping them from anime? I'm just curious because after the people who think:
-Cartoons are just for kids
-All anime = Porn or Pokemon
-Those big eyes are creepy
-Cartoons that aren't in English suck

Are there really THAT many "complainers" left that'd even be willing to watch the stuff in the first place?

I gotta say though, the worst lip-synching I've ever seen is in Ed Edd n Eddy. Sometimes, it's downright perplexing, like they obviously aren't mouthing out anything remotely close to what they're saying.

You aren't kidding! I just saw a scene from one of the older episodes where Kevin was walking and talking with the rest of the kids, yet his mouth didn't even move once during his line. As much as I adore that show and it's animation, it really does have some terrible lip-syncing moments. Laughing

I think the best use of cheap animation was any of the Williams Street show Space Ghost shows like Coast 2 Coast, Cartoon Planet, where Andy the voice actor/writer for the show for Brak would constantly complain about the camera cutting away so the animators don't have to show Brak standing up with his hands on the table after showing him previously sitting down.

And that show blatantly to comedic effect recycled the same animations and shots over and over. Even using creative editing with space ghost doing the same poses just edited more statically to make him look like he's dancing. Sometimes dubbing over the old episodes of Birdman, the Herculoids, and Space Ghost cartoons from the 60's.

I always like the animation of the Bruce Timm DC super hero shows that Warner Brothers produced like Batman:TAS, Superman Adventures, Justice League/JLU. Particularly in the episode Feat of Clay in Batman TAS a pretty much technical marvel for the time.

Also the Fleischer Superman in the 1940's animated shorts i thought for the time were extremely well animated not to mention had a great stylized look. Now it's sad even after 60 years of technological advances animated tv show don't even look that fluid here in the US anymore. Then again those shorts weren't made to be shown weekly on television.

I think all of Adult Swim's shows use their crappy animation in fun ways sometimes. MY favorite of course being the fire. Every single fire or explosion in every AS show is the exact same fire. Evidently they oonce just filmed a campfire and then used the footage for all of their fires and explosions, and the fire is so recognizable that it becomes a joke in some eps of Aqua Teen. Fun stuff.

The Anime industry is going to be fine. Just look at this season so far. From my count, I admit math is not my forte, there have been only 2 fewer shows released. We have great series like Eden of the East, Phantom, Shangri La, Guin Saga, Basquash!, Cross Game and Saki. In my opinion anyway.. We also have new Suzumiya episodes. New mid-summer shows like Spice and Wolf II and Tokyo Magnigude 8.0 are getting positive reviews.

Funimation, site issues aside, is putting more anime online. Bandai just ran Kurokami (Black God : Manga). Which was dubbed and aired on their You Tube site the same night as in Japan. I believe Justin S was even on the credits.

Hopefully the acceptance of online distribution increases. Also...hopefully it means faster DVD releases. Please more slimpacks and full season releases....pretty please.

This guy surely uses framerate and lipflap arguments in his bashing of Anime.

And I have to admit he is one of the few who usesdecent arguments against Anime...although he does that in somewhat Youtube-ish fashion, with a lot of insults and like that is.
