not for Japanese releases, though I guess it's becoming a bit more common now

I dont know of any serie on amazon.com that doesn't have it.

That's because releases on amazon.com are for the US English speaking market so of course they'll have subtitles and maybe a dub as well. The release in this article is for the Japanese speaking Japanese market so English subs aren't necessary Rolling Eyes

Exactly, amazon.com is meant for U.S. residents. So of course it's going to have to have english, otherwise it would cause most of the potential customer base to ignore it.

It would be another story if he was saying it for amazon.co.jp.

Excellent news.
Seems to be more and more common practice these days with Japanese BD releases having English subs.
Hope it continues to be so as well.

With this announcement, I'll definitely consider kinda-blind-buying it. I've seen the TV series, and I'm reading Viz's manga translation, so I have a general idea what I'd be getting. With Production IG behind it, and Sawashiro Miyuki providing a voice, there are more reasons to buy it. ^_^
