On another forum I found a funny story about an atheist group trading religious texts for porn. One girl gets what looks to be yaoi manga and proudly says she got "homosexual porn". Not sure what the title is.

video link here:

Here are screen shots.

Personally, as someone pro-religion, pro-free speech, and.. well.. pro-porn; I thought this was brilliant. It's a nice satire on the religious fundamentalists who think that books need to be banned because they personally find them offensive. It seems a number of fellow so-called 'Christians' on the campus don't share my attitude. Gee. What happened to turning the other cheek?

Anyway, just a funny instance of yaoi showing up in the news.

Oh wow, more power to them. Hope the girl enjoys yaoi. Really, seeing something like that on campus would crack me up. I wonder where they got the yaoi to hand out, or was it some weird donation thing. Is that title even available in English?

That's spectacular! It's kind of like on Airplane! when the Christians were bugging the Hare Krishnas at the airport while they were trying to board the plane.

@littlegreenwolf: It hasn't been released in English, but it has been fully scanlated.

I wish there were people like that at the university I went to. There was always a group handing out bibles, so it would be very convenient if you could trade them in for something else at the next stand. I'd probably trade the porn for food a few stands down the street, but that's just me.

(Haha, there was a commecial for some lawyer called Wright right before the news item. It was really... American.)

Haha! That was a pretty funny image--taking the bible and then having them watch you walk over and trade it in for gay porn.

That would be awesome, though. I'd never have to buy yaoi ever again!

See as someone who is pro-free speech/expression and pro-porn but ... well, anti-religion, I think it's actually a poor satire on religion as a whole. I mean, maybe if they had a more focused point that all of the hot-loving that went on in the Bible could be akin to pornography but I think the general shock value created by this would have an overall negative effect.

Now, if they had trade in your Bible/religious text for Harry Potter, I think that's a much better satire.

Hey I wonder if there was a Catholic Church table there, where you could trade your bibles in for loli-shota porn Laughing

I've got a similar view as The Xenos. I'm religious, a free speech supporter (though I consider myself neither pro nor con on porn) and while I think the atheist group's overall views are not for me, I think it's a rather clever idea. I mean, it makes me shake my head and wonder how they came up with it but it's interesting and creative.

And if it gets manga passed out, even Yaoi manga that I personally rarely enjoy, I say it's a net plus.

Personally I'm quite fed up with so-called religious people giving the rest of us a bad name. Excuse me but berating people and telling them how they're "going to Hell" is not how you save a person's soul. A true Christian in my mind is someone who is friendly, loving, forgiving and most importantly willing to sacrifice to make others happy/save them from suffering. That doesn't mean you are everyone's friend, you love everyone, you forgive the unforgivable and you sacrifice everything for everyone but it does mean you don't act like a narcisitic jackass who thinks he's so much better than everyone else.

Someone who uses religion as a way to make themselves "better" than others tends to act as if everyone who doesn't share their beliefs or worship "their God" is lesser than them. A truly religious person knows we're all essentially the same but our actions determine our fates. In other words, the person who tries to make you feel inferior for not believing isn't acting like a proper person of faith. A person who seems concerned about you and your soul and willing to help you if you want it, that is a person acting like a proper believer. (Strictly my opinion though.)

The atheists have the God-given right (or nature-given if you on-believers prefer) to choose their own fate just like the rest of us. I wouldn't support their current choice personally but as long as they don't harass believers, then I say let them do as they will. If they were to actively seek out people with bibles/religious texts and berate them, then I'd have a problem with them, the same as the problem I have with so-called religious people who berate and attack non-believers.

You can't bully someone into faith or out of faith. Rather than insulting people who disagree with you, offer your views honestly, openly and let them decide if they agree. I think everyone on all sides of any debate would be HAPPIER that way.
