Sooo... why did Twilight appear on the GN list but Avatar is on the manga list?

Probably because of "the separate Hardcover Graphic Books list" part.

No, your explanations still make no sense. Twilight-based on an American proerty, written by an American, done "manga-style" by a Korean artist= regular "graphic books" list.

The Last Airbender-based on an American property, written by two American writers, done "manga style" by (I assume) a Korean artist = Manga list.
Dear NYT, consistency is nice.

And that's not even taking taste into account, considering that most critics and fans of the original show consider "Zuko's Story" superior. (Based on an American show, written by Americans, drawn "manga-style" by an OEL Japanese-N. American artist--if it were on a list, what list would it be on?!)

Oops-beaten as well. True that Twilight is hardcover and that publishers decide how to catogorize their books. Littlegreenwolf-I'm genuinely happy you like "The Last Airbender" OEL. Something good has to come out of that movie (and convince Nick that it's still worth it to produce the rumored cartoon sequel "The Legend of Korra"!)

I pre-ordered all the "manga" they were releasing when I found out it was going to be part of the movie release (big Airbender fan in general), so when I got my hands on Zuko's story I was really impressed. The artwork is sketchy, but still rather nice. However the Last Airbender comic's art came off as more tradition in terms of manga artsytyle, and it's seriously the first time I've every seen an OEL whose art style I can't really distinguish from the typical manga style. It had excellent use of line, great use of screen tones, and was only missing some backgrounds here or there (which probably aren't really needed). All in all, I was seriously impressed with Joon Choi's art, and don't feel the least bit bad for paying nine bucks for it.

I couldn't find much information about Joon Choi, but I'm fairly certain she/he's American, especially since he apparently freelances with Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.

Hey Joon Choi, if you're reading this, make a website! I wanna virtual stalk your galleries.

Glad to see Maid-Sama finally made the list, I love that title.

Agreed! I just bought the 1st volume a week ago and I'm in love with it!! Glad to see Black Butler doing well; can't wait until Funmation releases the anime!

Ugh...Twilight... Evil or Very Mad
will it ever stop being popular?

But this isn't the first time this year TP has been on the list. In fact, they've been on the list this year several times already. Every volume of Alice on the Country of Hearts has made it on there, along with Trinity Blood Vol.12. And Warriors: Clan in Need even topped the list the week it came out.

Oh, I had no idea Alice was TP's! My bad. ^^;;;

Heheh, if you have that power.

Moe is to otaku boys like Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner is to young girls. It's like cocaine to some people. Laughing

Then I guess I really won't be interested in moe (too cute with no plot gives me nausea!) Anime hyper

I'm a girl and I think Mr. Pattinson can take his 'shiny' butt back to England. (or wherever he's from)

Real vampires like the one's in Hellsing and Blood + should have the spotlight, not him X-P

I did qualify my statement by specifying otaku boys and "young girls." Laughing
