I'm not surprised. It's a good show even with the edits. It just got ithe target audience it needed by putting it on saturday 10pm.

Umm, apparently it scored number one with the 6-11 demographic, so it hasn't found a new "more proper" audience at all.

Other than the blood in the violence, One Piece seems to be at place as a Shonen style story. Friendship, good laughs, and some action. I love the series. I have been watching it long before it was on television out here, and long before it was even in the U.S. Shonen Jump. It deserves the number one spot. Sadly, it will be heavily pushed as a childrens show rather than as a teenager show. This is especially made fact by the editing of the show as well as the fact that 4Kids has the license to it. I would expect no less really.

Reaching a target audience doesnt necessarily mean a new group of people. Reaching it's target audience is difficult when there is competition with Pokemon, Yu Gi oh etc, on saturday morning.
And One Piece is a good show for kids, if the parents don't freak out on the violence.

wow, I guess the 4KIDS guy was right about how altering a show is ultimately more profitable than the UNCUT version...
no need to worry though, since the UNCUT DVDs will come out soon enough
to be frank though, I really don't like the cut version at all *even though I'm not too into the uncut version either... it was likeable at least*
the acting and the "hip-hop" are just terrible...

I'm just glad someone's watching it. I was afraid One Piece was going to die a horrible, unloved, quick death in the US and I didn't want to see that happen.

Based on what? Without the uncut version available to measure it against how can that really be said for sure? Maybe an uncut version would have been even more popular with more demos, then again maybe not, who's to say?

You always come to these one piece topic and put useless comment. It's a good series that's extremely popular all over asia, not just japan. Stop watching the 4kids version.
