Seriously, I'd love it if you did kissxsis just cause I'd love to see this place explode. It would be awesome. And the manga is amusing as hell.

And Bow Ditama is apparently in right now.

Controversial titles sell and nothing is quite as controversial as kissxsis, omorashi and teacher-student relationships. Oh, and incest. Very Happy

.................. yeah id buy it Embarassed even though its basically porn I still get a laugh out of it.

Not everything I buy has to be as deep as the ocean. I'm not above smut, gore and simple minded violence

Id have to wonder if it would make it out uncensored though

I don't think the "controversial titles sell" thing works in a niche as small as ours. The thing that helps controversial titles get popular is widespread media outrage, whereas most media peeps probably don't even know what Naruto is.

Remember when Seven Seas tried to publish Kodomo no Jikan? Yeah, that didn't end well for them. :/

(If you want smut, just go to DMP? I mean, that's what Project-H is for...)

Ah, and on the subject of publishers putting out awesome new editions of series I already have: I normally end up just selling my old volumes and using that money to buy the new edition! It works out pretty well when you consider that most new editions are omnibuses, and thus are also usually a lot cheaper than the individual volumes would be. Even selling the old volumes at used prices will normally get me pretty close to the market price on the new book, and I never pay full price anyways. Laughing

That is a pretty good strategy, I must admit. And if I wanted the Vertical editions more, I might do it. But to be quite honest ... I don't like how big they are Razz

And again, the TP version is perfectly fine. And complete.

Nah im too attached to em now to sell em, when you spend hours and hours scouring every corner of the internet to find a reasonable priced not too tatty copy of a book and finally get it it has extra value to ya.

I noticed the extra BAA:LO content a while back as they released it in a volume in europe and I've happened across it many a time while searching.

Awesome new editions in the US tend to be Omnibuses and I never like these, especially when compared to Kanzeban in Japan.

Then again I am thinking of Viz re-releases the ones for Vertical & Kodansha might be nicer and more collectible.

Number one: Seven Seas didn't publish Kodomo no Jikan cause: they stupidly retitled it Nymphet drawing raised eyebrows and blurring what the manga actually is and they did not have the balls to stand behind the license. It was just another episode in the stupid decisions that publisher made in its early years. Now, they finally are publishing some of the yuri they promised in the early days and OMG New York Time best seller lists. Seriously, SS really made bad missteps in their early life.

On to point two: DMP's Project H line tends to cater to a specific segment of the eromanga reading fans and although they've made some good choices, like Love on the Job and Velvet Kiss, most of their product isn't the sort of thing I'm interested in. Regardless, kissxsis is not hentai OR eromanga. It's crude sex humor done right. There are no real naughty bits, no insertion, no NTR, and no tentacles. Its kinda dumb, kinda cute, kinda immature, kinda line-crossing. And a lot of fun. But hey, we can't have that....

Seriously, people who slam KnJ and kissxsis really need to actually have a clue about what they're slamming. Its kinda sad how ignorant and prudish they are.

With ParaKiss this isn't the case, it's actually the page size that is bigger than usual. I'm not sure if the original Japanese release that size or if they have actually made it bigger. Either way, it's not standard manga size and would look weird on my shelf.

You can blame "Nymphet" on the mangaka; it seems they asked her for English title ideas and she became adamant about that one. As for not standing behind it, I got the impression that Barnes & Noble was prepared to show Seven Seas their full displeasure if they followed through on it. Sometimes good business sense dictates knees of jello.

Sorry for jumping in but... Actually it is a standard manga size. It is A5, and our version is the same size as the Japanese editions, and the same size as our Tezuka releases, Lychee Light Club and some omnibus by Viz and Yen Press.

I have US published manga trades in several sizes ranging from standard comic size (early Dark Horse and CPM) to really small (Tokyo Pop and Iron Cat). I also have imported manga trades in at least four sizes. There really is no standard manga size.

Manga is something to read, not use as a decorative accessory. To base buying choices on appearance is just silly.

Meh, just put all the big ones together on a shelf and it'll still look neat.

That's what I do. I have a specific shelf for A5 and other large sized things like artbooks and novels.

I did mention the fact that I already own the series, right? If I find aspects of it more aesthetically pleasing than the new version, then there is absolutely no reason to re-buy it and I prefer that size, which is certainly the norm when it comes to manga.

And yes, I do own a few series that are the larger size but I didn't have a choice with them. I don't buy novels in trade paperback when I can get them in mass market size, why should manga be any different?

Well, those old Tokyopop manga are pretty suspectible to yellowing, foxing and other stuff collectors fear. The paper Vertical uses is much nicer, so if you want your manga to remain aesthetically pleasing, that edition would be the way to go Smile
