And kun is just an honorific, don't read so much into it, they're not related.

Tonari no Seki-kun? like... Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun? any relation or just coincidence? :O

I think "tonari no..." (meaning something like the person(s) next to or neighbouring you) is just a common Japanese phrase. Like Tonari no Totoro, etc.

Good point.

But still sounds suspicious, because it is not only the "Tonari no" but also the "-kun" (Seki-kun and Kaibutsu-kun), both are gakuen romantic comedies, who apparently have a male co-star who acts "strange".

Oh Well, with respect to the plot, we have so many similar mangas like it, but generally don't have so similar titles xD

Ironically that misunderstanding what the only reason I watched 'Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun' Laughing

I read this manga, and it's pretty funny. I'm actually surprised to see it getting an anime, but i'm happy about it. Could be really good or could be really bad. Either way, i'll be watching.

Tonari no Seki isn't a romantic comedy at all, which is a good thing. I support them as a couple, they're very cute, but it's really just a simple... Well, I can't really call it a slice of life. It's very bizarre.
