Wow, they actually murdered the pregnant woman. Didn't think this show would go that far...

Plus those two girls that I seriously doubt were out of their teens. If they were trying to portray that guy as a total amoral bastard, they certainly succeeded. I do respect anime that don't pull punches, and so far the stuff in the other world has been pretty brutal. I'm actually sort of liking this series.

If you look at series like Ceres, Genbu Kaiden, Alice 19th, or even Fushigi Yuugi, Watase is definitely not shy about showing the consequences of her villains' evil acts.
But she'll forever be known for writing the terrible Miaka x Tamahome romance. >.>

yeah, didn't expect that to happen. I like this new attitude Arata has, and I hope it sticks because I'm getting tired of him whining all the time

this anime would be so popular if this is the 90s. Too bad people don;t like this type of anime anymore.

I like this kind of anime. In fact, I'm enjoying this show more than Gargantia.

I actually missed this show quite a bit last week...
While I do like Hinohara and his journey, Arata is definitely the more entertaining one. I've been looking forward to his meeting with Kadowaki for awhile now and I wasn't disappointed

Same here. Although this is one of the two lowest-priority shows that I am currently following, I have found the concept interesting enough and I am curious to know what, exactly, Hinohara did that got Kadowaki so cruelly pissed at him. Prior to this episode I was disappointed that they weren't giving more time to the modern world side of things, and it looks like we'll see a fair amount more next episode, too.

I'm disappointed that even when they do spend time in Hinohara's world, it's still all about Hinohara and almost nothing to do with Arata, other than how he's affecting Hinohara's relationships and revealing his past. While in Arata's world, it's all about Hinohara and his character development. Since we started out with a focus on Arata and Hinohara, I expected it to continue that way.
Obviously both of them will be going home to a changed world (if they go back at all), but Arata is pretty much just a plot device. This is all Hinohara's story, but I wish it had been Arata's.
