Kou was totally LOL when seeing Haru in swimsuit ^^
I was kinda expecting the swim club to happen and I was right. It was the pretty much obvious next step. Looks like Rin is nostalgic about the childhood days with his friends. I like this anime 'cause it had nice pace and strong motivation. |

Haru starting to strip when within a 10 meter radius to anything water related is becoming an awesome running gag, oh, how I love it.
Rin's teeth are still really irritating, though. I don't think I get the appeal of those in any way. Of course they spoiler[founded a swimming club]. I wander what the 5th guy will add to the mix. The atmosphere of this show is very pleasant, and the swimming scenes are just plain gorgeous. I don't see this becoming a favorite of mine any time soon, but it is actually a lot more fun than I expected it to be. |

I don't see how it's a surprise or spoiler that spoiler[they started a swim club, since the title in the Encyclopedia is Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club.
 Although I guess the Going Home Club isn't exactly about going home (is it?),] so I could be wrong. In the spirit of the Freedom of Information Act, I'll redact it anyhow.
I don't think his teeth are supposed to be appealing, so much as designating him as the shark to Haru's dolphin. |

Regarding Rin's shark teeth, Peter Payne of JList has occasionally blogged about the popularity of pointed teeth in Japan. According to him, some go so far as to file their teeth to achieve the desired look. Most often they just file the incisors, but some apparently file their entire set of teeth. So I guess Rin's teeth are intended to work on two levels: an appeal to those who like the look and a metaphor for Rin's personality.

Luckily (for me) Haru does not annoy me like he did in the first episode. I guess this is because parts of his past were addressed which explains some of his traits. Only 2 episodes in but the Free! seems to be heading in right direction.

This show is hilarious xD I'm liking the characters a lot, including Gou, who seems pretty cool (and taking the campy self-aware fanservice into obvious parody territory can't be a bad thing). I liked when the guys were conspiring about making the teacher wear a swimsuit to advertise their club, and the teacher showed up and said, "I WILL NEVER WEAR A SWIMSUIT AGAIN." It seemed to me like a very intentional "up yours" to the guys complaining about the lack of bewbs in the show.
Rin will most likely be my favorite, but Nagisa is surprisingly adorable (spoiler[Gou! Kou! Gou! Kou! Kou! Gou!] ) and Haruka is hilarious. How can I not love a show where the male main character's public stripping is a running gag? This show is really really dumb and shallow, but it's shaping up to be one of my favorites of the season.

Thankfully the show isn't crap at all. Episode 3 was another enjoyable little romp, even if the twist that spoiler[Rei couldn't swim] was pretty obvious. |

The perfect fan girl for this show. Anyways, I can honestly say that I enjoy Free! quite a bit, or at least more than I had thought. I guess maybe it's because I'm a Kyoto Animation fan? Rather though, the series has a this refreshing expression for sports and I enjoy watching it especially since it fits with the hot summer mood here. |

So am I. Have to admit, they caught me by surprise with Rei's personality. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting from him, but something cooler I think, though not as icy as Rin. I'm not complaining at all, he's just different.
