I already have the first 9 volumes of Gals in French, and the 10th should be out by now (just I haven't been to a Chapters that sells French manga in a couple of weeks).
The anime follows the manga very closely for the first volume or so, but then takes a different, more filler-y, path (mainly due to the manga being monthly while the series was weekly, so, after a couple of episodes, the seasons were out of sync). Most of the main plot threads and many of the major events from the manga are represented in the anime (usually out-of-order), but there are a lot of plot elements which are completely original to the anime (i.e. Harue's background as seen in volume 2, and the yet-to-be-seen-in-America character Kasumi seems to be completely original to the anime unless she's in the last volume of the manga).

For a movie based on horror game, the only part that was scary was FPS. I was scared that if there was going to be a Doom 2 it would be back. But atleast "Pinky" was good for "some" laughs..

Heh, I thought the whole film was good for laughs, and not much else. Certainly not horror.

Well nuts, I guess we won't be seeing any more Aria manga anytime soon

I'm not going to start that old debate again, but casting all that stuff aside, it was still innovative on account of the robot designs alone. They were unlike anything done before and to this day haven't really been copied successfully. The closest thing that comes to mind is, what...DeVadasy?

Actually, I would. And I do. Oh well, no point in lying to myself. Perhaps I liked it because it was the only shot that held any semblance to the game, which I have adored for over a decade.
Wait, what do you mean only semblance to the game? The sets, costumes, guns, BFG, monsters, even music all felt like they were ripped straight from Doom 3. Oh wait. You must be a hardcore player who wanted something closer to the original. Yeah, we got screwed.

Just wanted to poke my head in about Orginal English Language Manga. Some call it Amerimanga. I call bullcrap. Not that I think they can't be good. I jsut don't think any of it should be called manga. To me, by definition of the word, manga is Japanese comics in Japan. I see the use of the term here just as a cheap marketing gimmick to sell more.
Now I repect artists being inpired by the Japanese style and who want to be published in the same collected format. Yet, it jsut simply isn't manga. Plus, many times they just superficially look like manga and don't get the story structure or many other aspects right. Also, it bugs me that they can't jsut use the term comics. Really, what's wrong with saying you;re producing an American comic book or graphic novel.
Hell, I know I got a couple of ideas for stories and they certainly would be inpired by manga. Yet I could never see calling anything I made manga. Oh and for one of those story ideas I need to be careful not sounding like some goth kid's live journal as well. For that one, I read Lament of the Lamb and that manga showed me that such a story could be done in comics.
Really, they are all just comics. Manga is a term for comics made in Japan. It's not some magical term that makes the book good and will sell you a gajillion copies. Lord knows the market is big enough that there are sucky manga out there and jsut because it is manga does not mean it will sell.

Which reminds me, when you enter your caption thingy, should it come with your mailing address and name already?
Or do you just e-mail the caption?

Exactly. Not that Doom 3 was neccessarily a bad game, but it's not really Doom. Or, as it should always be spelled, "DOOM" or even "DOOOOOOM!!!1!11." I'm very attatched to the original.

Doom 3 was alright to me. The new graphics went well for it. As far as I think it beats the original by far and trust me I was huge game fan of the original DOOM. At least Doom 3 has some what of a storyline going to it and not just beat the level go to the next level with some typing telling during the loading. But I also thought DOOM 3 got a little boring half way through. Just felt all too much the same. But one thing I did hate was some of the monsters from the original DOOMs werent there. Like the spiders with brains on top. Also, I wished there were a little more challeging boss's.

The thing with me, though, is that I was gushing over the Half-Life 2 graphics right around the time Doom 3 came out. And in my honest opinion, there's no comparison. So that was partly responsible for my somewhat-disappointed reaction to Doom 3.
Yeah, and I was really mad about how many of the original Doom monsters were cut from the 3rd game. At least there was a Cyberdemon, the Coolest Monster Ever™ and my personal favorite. It's too bad he never made it into the movie...
