Would be interesting to compare the 3D version with the original version of SSS. Would also still love to see a North American BD release of the full SAC series (both seasons) with the original English VA dub.

The 3D would be really cool if you have Blu-Ray and a 3D TV too.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society -Another Dimension

Dude, the title is getting longer and longer! It's almost a whole paragraph! They'd run out of punctuations and colons! Laughing

despite being a huge GitS fan, I just don't see the point of this rerelease.
I saw SSS in the cinema when it was first released, own the bluray and have seen the new 3D version. I love the fact that the 3D version exists and that its pulling people into the cinema - I really hope that its popular enough to warrant another tv series. Heck, I daresay they will make a bundle from merchandising alone - the cinema shop where I saw it was FULL of GitS:SAC merch - everything from iphone cases to plushie tachikomas and Laughing Man usb keyboards!
But the 3D version was a fun experiment at best imo. The 3D looks great on panoramic environment shots or any shot with a CG vehicle in it (car, helicopter etc). And of course, it was really cool during the brain diving scenes. But throughout the rest of the movie I felt it was a hinderance. Applying the 3D to 2D animation resulted in many scenes looking like two cells had been placed not quite correctly on top of one another. It was really disconcerting and pulled me right out of the movie at times. I'm glad I was able to revisit it on the big screen, but I certainly don't need a home release.
