I have to agree with Dan, AO should be resurved for Hentai only.

So Dan,
AO is for masterbatory material. Porn made for porn's sake?
and MA is for material that may have erotic themes and may be sexually graphic (as well as excessive violence or such)?
What about Urotsukidoji then ? It's highly reasonable to put that into the second category.

I'm reading kirara, and so far (first 2 volumes) the TE rating is appropriate for it. It's way less erotic than Boku no Futatsu no Tsubasa.
[edit] I've read Kagome Kagome, also by yui, and that's teen too.

read all Kirara, and it's quite borderline between TE and MA, since there are a couple of scenes that don't just involve nude breasts.
P.S. why's the age rating for boku no futatsu no tsubasa and haru yo koi still wrong?

Up. Sorry to nag you, but could I have a definitive answer from the chief encylopedist? Those two titles are still marked AO, while according to his words, they shouldn't.

For now, Boku no Futatsu no Tsubasa has been given the MA rating (the sample pic has nudity, but does not have enough content to warrant an AO rating). However, I still think Haru yo, Koi should be AO, as it does contain explicit sexual content.

I've read them all, and there's no real difference between them. And I wouldn't call that scene "explicit", since you can never see the pelvis (and you can't anywhere else).
Plus, I have to repeat what Dan42 said: AO should be for masturbatory material only, and neither HYK nor BnFnT are.

Well, in the original Japanese print, you can't see anything due to censorship laws. It's still a sexual position; therefore, it's AO.

Hmm, the trouble with Haru Yo Koi is that it's actually a very good romantic drama. It doesn't give off a hentai vibe and I'm not sure if it's prime purpose is to be "masturbatory". Rather I would say it contains extreme fan service. The sad part is that Volume 5 (from which the pic came) is kinda unrepresentative since it goes overboard with the sex, which incidentally makes it the most boring volume. True, there's sex in all the other volumes too but the drama is firmly in the driver's seat. Personally I would prefer a mature rating, as AO might mean people mistake HYK for hentai. Perhaps if there was a genre option for Hentai, so we could easily distinguish between adult content and "adult" content?

actually, if the definition of fanservice is gratuitous nude/sex scenes, HYK doesn't contain that many (only a couple of showers, breasts, etc.). I mean, IMHO Tenjou Tenge contains much more. All the other sex scenes are pretty much critical, since if you removed them, the atmosphere would be completely different.
for the rest, I completely approve what you said.

The age rating should reflect the anime/manga as a whole. If it is erotic in nature, then it's Adult Only. But since those who read it seem to think it isn't, I've changed it to Mature. BTW, the definition for "Mature" does state "May contain sex"

Based on that page only, I'd say AO.
Edit: I dug up the chapter in questin, definitely AO.

Exacly. How do I put age ratings on anime & manga pages?
