I am reading Full Metal Alchemist. I read an article on the site about it and I decided to give it a shot.

After watching the anime show of it, I finished reading the manga of You're Under Arrest. Compared to the show, the manga version of the title is much more compacted, but I got quite a few laughs from it, particularly from the chapter that featured Natsumi's certain favorite superhero. Wink

Did you read all of You're Under Arrest? Or did you only read the two volumes Dark Horse put out?

A problem, no. I just wanted to make sure you knew there was more. Apparently Dark Horse is not allowed to print the remaining portion of the series.

Ah, alright then. Anime smile
I don't know why Dark Horse is prevented from finishing the entirety of YUA, considering that the title's been out for 22 years...
Licensing issues, I assume?

The claim I've encountered, which is on the series' Wikipedia article, is that the mangaka asked the Dark Horse publish only a 'best of' collection of select chapters rather than the whole series.

I've never read any of it, although I have had half a mind to hunt the anime down, although that's gotten tricky as AnimEigo's release went out of print some years ago.

Since You're Under Arrest and Oh My Goddess! are by the same author, the editor Carl Horn has discussed this in the back of OMG.

He most recently stated that Fujishima is not happy with his YUA artwork and does not want any additional portion published. However, back when they stopped YUA and began OMG, they stated that they would do six months of one title and then do six months of the other. That didn't happen, probably because OMG did a lot better than YUA had done.

An early anime magazine I found that dated before Dark Horse started publishing You're Under Arrest, did an article about the comic under the title "You're Busted" Appropriate I suppose for a manga about female police officers.

Hmm...Perhaps this may explain why the manga of YUA lasted only eight volumes while the manga of Ah! My Goddess lasted for a super-adventurous 308 chapters...

Just read Flowers of Evil 10 and wow, that was intense after seeing many old faces. It feels like not much happens in each volume but come thing compels you to keep reading and to pick up the next volume. Not much is said but Oshimi creates a fantastic and chill atmosphere. The series reads like Vagabond, flowing like a movie.

Right now i'm reading Hell Blade - technically not a manga but a manhwa. It's centered around the Jack The Reaper killings and it's AMAZING! Totally broke away from my expectations. Give it a shot and you'll see what I mean Very Happy

Well my dear owl, I've finished 13th Boy and can say pretty much without hesitation that yeah, you should go ahead and get ahold of this one. Who knew that a magical talking bishie transforming cactus would be so awesome and be one of the series' main assets? But yeah, it was really awesome, and the supernatural elements actually helped. And characters actually grew, changed, and matured, that can be downright refreshing for a shojo (or Korean equivalent) romance.
I'm probably going to stop my Korean manhwa experiment though, I read a lot of the first vols of the Yen stuff, and while I'll certainly be continuing Goong (next volume almost out! So excite!) and Witch Buster, I feel like I've gotten most of what I want. However, I'll be speeding up the K-drama experiment instead! Mwahahaha! And I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for new manhwa (though it seems a shame that the era of bringing tons of it over is now over, I think Yen inherited most of Ice Kunion's catalog, finished putting it out, but have no real interest to get more and Seven Seas is the only other one really putting any out it seems, but they're also quite busy putting out ecchi and near-porn stuff, so who knows if they'll ever get back to Lizzie Newton, though at least they're putting out Witch Buster, which they've almost caught up to. And Tokyopop brought over a lot, but an awful lot of what I've tried from them was garbage or is incomplete)

Dorohedoro vol.13 arrived so i polished it off quickly. Fallout from events in volume 11 continue to swirl and lots of revelations about characters are made. The ending of the volume was a bit of a gut punch and im sure fans of the series already knew about it but I have a loose rule about not reading ahead in series im currently purchasing (loose because there are series id been reading for ages before they got a release so i keep at em but buy the books anyway) so I only got hints of it coming.

I continue to be impressed by the series, id say i really regret not getting into it sooner but as im current with the releases and its not on a quick schedule id say having about 6 volumes out when i started was a good thing. There's so much i like about the series, the gritty art, the gore, the characters, the humor like how the devils just do whatever they want and dont care.
