I don't know how closely they match, but I'm willing to guess the manga is the same, just not quite as drawn-out, since they did that for production reasons in the anime. Personally, I loved the original 16-volume Dragonball, but DBZ kinda bored me. It basically threw all the charm and comedy of the first series and replaced it with a sci-fi-ish action series, but that might be your thing.

And no, GT was made as an anime because Akira Toriyama got tired of doing DBZ and wanted to move on to something else, so the anime production team continued without him. I really doubt he'd want to go and do a manga of someone else's creation.

I have all of them and it's exactly the same as the anime.
Actually, there is a lot of details and stories added in the anime. If you know the anime, you know the manga.

If you're concerned about saving your money, you could probably find this series at your local library. It's very popular, so even if you have to request it from another library in your state it shouldn't be too hard to find.

They will not make a manga because I think it's a little late to do so. Dragon Ball is pretty much something that will not be revived and will remain a classic of the past. No need to give it something more that will probably turn out to be a dumb storyline.

Dragon Ball + Dragon Ball Z (anime) = Dragon Ball (manga)

It stops at volume 42...

Improve your grammar immediately. For example, question marks when you're asking a question would be swell.

How dare you speak treason to my favorite show.

Where in this thread was the "treason" you speak of? All the posts here have just been people trying to help out the author decide whether or not to purchase the graphic novels. And, for future reference when some actually does insult your favorite show, don't get so defensive because it doesn't make you look intelligent. Try to explain to people why the show you like is so great in your eyes and sway them over to your way of thinking, instead of just screaming "YOU HAVE OFENDED ME OMG DBZ ROCKS U SOSTOOPID!!!11!!"

No, there isn't really a connection of the ending of Z and the beginning of GT.
