It was among the lowest rated shows when it was on both times. It's just one of those shows that doesn't really deliver an exceptional return.

lol

It did fine ratings wise. It performed about on par with the rest of the Toonami shows in the back half.

It's a repeat of an old anime show. Like what did you expect?

I get the feeling most people here don't know what counts as succeeding or failing for a non-network-original show airing on a late Saturday night.

Funny considering I just decided to watch the series yesterday and already saw episode 1. I can't say I'm really a mecha fan but I have grown more lenient towards them recently and since it's a bones show I figure "why not?" I'll watch some more episodes before I decide if I want to buy it or not.

I may be a little dull for asking this but. Does this mean they will just be re-selling blue ray stuff and or showing it on TV? I watched it on [AS] when i first started watching anime (bleach was my 1st) and got hooked. I now have both blue ray disks but don't know what this means. Question

^ That depends. Where did you buy the blurays that you have? Are they UK/Region B discs? Japanese imports?

Because FUNimation's release will be the first time that the series has ever been released on bluray in North America.

Definitely releasing it on home video. Whether or not it returns on Toonami, depends if Adult Swim still wants it.

Not surprising but still great news nonetheless.

I'm sure they will use the Bandai dub, since they have kept the old dubs to a lot of shows they rescued.

Once blu-ray came around bandai was a terrible company, since they had to listen to their Japanese overlords. Now a lot of their tv series titles are getting blu-ray, so I'm happy they're dead and didn't stick around for another few years. I really want my anime on blu-ray. Smile

Besides, why would they want to redub 50 episodes that absolutely don't require it? Renton's voice was annoying, but I don't remember any serious flaws elsewhere.

Here's a interesting question, how many times has funimation re-dubbed something? I'm curious if anyone knows more examples. The only thing I'm aware of is Initial D. Basically funimation will pretty much never re-dub anything, less profit. I wouldn't count Kai as it's a much different experience than Z.

I find this to be good news actually, I only have the bandai dvd singles so I'm happy just to finish collecting the second half.
