Kind of surprised they didn't sell something like that the first time around in the 80s. What, did Miyazaki think it would've cheapened the brand?

It's funny that this bit of news would pop up. I'm in the process of finishing 'Nadia' and of course Laputa comes up in the discussion and today we're talking about the blue stone. Now this is funny, but yeah...why release this now?

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. After all we didn't have voice activation. Now with the tech that makes sense. But if it was just a gem then they could've made this decades ago. Well, this falls in line of the updated CCS staff. |

I imagine it's a combination of technology and cost. There were two previous iterations of this crystal amulet, one that just shone when you pressed a button, and then one that shone *even brighter* when you pressed a button.
I wonder if it just took until now to have crazy cheap high-bright LEDs that you could cobble with voice-activated technology, and have it all fit inside a pendant? |
