SAO Deserve a lot of the hate it gets. but it is seriously blinding people here.
The SAO universe is probably one of the best one to use as a playground. and it seems like Sigsawa is doing just that, I mean imagine SAO minus the established characters and writing quality of the character interactions, fill them in with Sigsawa and it seems like a wining combo to me.

Wonder when he'll get to having the final Kino's LN released.

I believe it's ongoing at 17 volumes, at least in Japan and a few others. And there's going to be an 18th this October
Well, seeing that the stories don't connect with each other, it can, theoretically, last for as long as Sigsawa is alive (and perhaps as long as they sell? Kino sales seem to be going down every year though... thanks to the popularity of other LN's such as SAO and Toaru, among many)

I'd be glad to assist you.
Seriously though, how about people give the man a chance before you instantly just haul out the pitchforks and torches. Save your pointless fanboy/girl rage for something more deserving.

I generally disregard spinoff series (Railgun excepted), but I'm willing to give this a look. It's a storyverse rich with potential for stuff like this, after all.

So was there any reason why this need to be an SAO story? I mean it's not like the premise is that original, and the background stuff is not that great. I mean I get it's because (for whatever reason) SAO is popular, and slapping the SAO label on it will boost sales. And I might be too paranoid, but is this going to be a thing? Are there we going to see video games, light novels, original anime stories, and manga that take place in the same world as SAO. Is SAO going to be a new FSN (or the star wars expanded universe in the west)? Are we going to see a bunch of purists who will complain about people who experience SAO in anything other than the original story and/or medium? I mean SAO seems like the perfect franchise for something like this to happen.
Well, I really liked Kino's Journey, and the author has already proven himself to be good at writing character driven stories, so I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

This is kinda like Alan Moore writing Crossed - A supremely talented author on a property that is considered dreck by many.
And I prefer SAO to Crossed quite a bit.
