Why I said I saw too because a couple of years ago I went his autograph. I got hours later I come back to the area for a different thing going on next to it. Someone vic is still autographing and then when he was eventually done he goes by having finally finished. My point was something saw and experienced it was weird people saying about that. I find it hard to believe. |

and I was referring to the fact that people will continue to perpetuate nonsense about Vic (or anyone popular for that matter) regardless if someone experiences a different account firsthand, because of rumors and heresay. I have personally been to several panels featuring Vic, and have also a similar account to yours: he's genuinely a nice, friendly guy that truly cares about the anime industry and the roles he's played. He has such enthusiasm. But some might see him differently. So long as your feelings towards him are developed from an actual encounter with Vic, then fair enough. But if you form your opinion of him through rumors? That's ridiculous.
Ahh, my mistake. Read that wrong. Thanks for the clarification. Last edited by meggu on Fri Nov 14, 2014 1:45 pm; edited 2 times in total |

I hate to tell you this, but "not liking yaoi" is 99% rooted in not liking teh_gayz, for whatever reason. The only legitimately non-homophobe argument for not liking BL is that it relies on stereotypical gender roles, where the "uke" is highly effeminate and the "seme" is hyper masculine. And there's usually a lot of rape. I highly doubt Mr. Mignogna has given BL that level of thought. People who don't like BL don't like it because it involves two men together. And that's usually rooted in religious or sexist thinking. As much as Mr. Mignogna doesn't want to think he's a homophobe, he has routinely displayed homophobic behavior. (Also, male/male fanservice is not "weird shit".) And just because you, a straight man, personally, did not see him display creepy behavior on stage toward a woman is kind of irrelevant. Lots of people say he is homophobic, douche etc. Does anyone have proof of this? I've only just seem rumors about this stuff. I've never been a big fan of his VA work (imo all of his voices sound the same) but I'm kinda surprised at these supposed rumors that I've seen about him. I saw him at a con and he seemed like a chill guy.

As a Rin fan I AM NOT OK WITH THIS. I'm not anti Vic and I could care less if he's popular and has a big fanbase HE IS NOT RIGHT FOR THIS ROLE. Rin is NOT Edward Elric and sadly that is how he will be heard. Also hated him as Tamaki and as Dark from D.N Angel. He needs to stop going for those types of characters they don't fit him at all. This was a miscast plain and simple. Someone needs to pull their head out of their butt and stop basing casts on who's popular and actually THINK of who would do the voices of characters justice.

That's what I've been reading from comments. They're mostly rumors; some say they are facts, whatever. It all comes down to personal experience towards Vic. If he treated you nicely, good for you. If he was being an ass to you or other people, I'm sorry to hear that; Vic is human like the rest of us, he will have his bad days. In the end, Vic is the only one who knows who he is and knows what he's doing. I just find it completely stupid that people gonna hate/bash him for the wrong reasons, and they don't even know the guy. I don't know him either, but still. Smh. They can talk all they want, I'm pretty sure Vic (plus Funimation) don't give a damn. They're doing their job. [EDIT: Please don't over-quote. -TK] |

My girlfriend is really pissed off. She doesn't see Vic as the perfect choice for Rin. She wanted Matthew Mercer to be voiced instead.

I am a Rin fan as well, although he's not in my top 20 favs, I honestly do not care who they put as his voice as long as it's not a homophobic creepass puntcoaster like this guy. There are videos of Vic displaying his dbaggery on youtube, two of which I linked on p2 with time links, so to everyone, please take a look at them before you dismiss everything as just rumours. |

Sighs, is it bad that I'm a bit disappointed because of how much people were convinced it would be him? I don't dislike him as a person, I just don't feel his voice fits that well as appears to other VAs (I agree with Sakuragtin that he probably would have made a good Kisumi). I love all the VAs cast, I just don't think most of them fit these particular roles and to me it almost looks like a popularity cast. Highly anticipated show, let's cast some of the most popular VAs as close to the characters as we can. I just really feel there could have been better choices. I'll still watch it just to see what they do with it. Hopefully the script will be okay, but I was hoping this could be a chance for Funi to redeem itself from former disappointments.
And to those excited about this being an Ouran reunion, just remember, this isn't Ouran. The actors shouldn't be focused on pleasing women with their words (they do that enough with their bodies xD). |

Yeah, don't believe him. People will always make up insulting nonsense about popular folks, feeling they don't deserve that popularity. It happens very often. Besides, even if it *was* true, which it isn't, that shouldn't prevent you from purchasing a show you really like. |

If that doesn't register as homophobic to you... (raises arms and turns away) And the douche vid in the full post. They're not just supposed rumours. Again. Just look it all up on youtube. It's in the panels.
Belay that belay. He ignored the links and proof, clearly. |

Just because one of the cast is a (maybe) jerk doesn't mean you should not purchase this. That's like me returning my Penguindrum dvd's because the guy who plays Kanba is spoiler[ a statutory rapist. ] You can watch it subbed if you feel that strongly about it, but at least support the release if you're a Free! fan. I was hoping for Crispin Freeman T~T I'm not going to judge someone I don't know. The only thing here I care about is the fact that this was the miscast of all miscasts. |
