The shocking announcement could that a new manga/anime series is happening. I think it would be more shocking if it was that the current series is the last one (for now).

It was announced earlier that the anime was continuing for another year

However, the continuing anime might be the last series. I don't follow the series or it's news other than maybe what I see on ANN or CR and I am just speculating. To me, the news of a series ending is more shocking news than a series continuing.

Quite true, I don't check news outside of ANN and CR either. I think Bushiroad decides how things continue near the end of the current run so we have to wait.

I can't believe it's been nearly 10 years since I started using ANN (I believe it will be 10 in April or May).
