I've really enjoyed these "limited series" of Pokemon. AFAIK the budget is a lot higher than the TV series (less episodes of course) which is why the battles look and feel much better.
Hopefully when Mega Evolution concludes in the near future we can get more "Origin" treatment for Generation II, III, etc

You do realize that this one, Act IV, is the last one right? Not sure if you're aware but Alan is meeting up with Ash very soon in the XY Anime. As for more Origins related stuff. That was just a means of advertising for XY. It's not canon either. |

Yes. The Mega Evolution Acts may be specials, but they are confirmed Canon to the XY Timeline. In Act 1, Ash was mentioned by Marin/Manon to Alain about jumping off of Prism Tower. We'll find out more about there meeting in September. |

I see no reason why Shuckle needs either type of evolution at all. Sure, it may seem frail with its low vitality, but its ultra-high defenses makes him withstand most attacks from most Pokémon, including some with high offenses. |

In any case, Shuckle is actually competitively viable right now. It doesn't need a Mega Evolution. In single battles, it is the single best Sticky Web user in the game. In double and triple battles, it is still quite solid (no pun intended) with Trick Room support. In rotation battles...I'm not really sure what's popular on Shuckle there. But in every mode, it is also the best user of Infestation (to stall in single battles and to trap opposing Pokémon in the others). |
