One is aired live only once on late-night television with little advertisement.
The other is a wide release theatrical movie that has a larger scope of promotions, collaborations, and advertisements.

Another One Piece Film? Great news! The last one came out in mid-December 2012. So we have a 3.5 year gap between them.
This reminds me that I still haven't watched the previous 2 films even though I've got a copy of them to watch.
I hope Oda is involved in this film as well.

You can say that again. I may or may not watch it, but it's still good to hear.

I shudder to think how this will impact Dragon Ball Super. There are never enough talented animators to go around over at Toei Animation. They work on too many projects at once.

it was good as a film, but it was not a good "One Piece" film
It was too dark for a "One Piece" Movie |
I agree at the time I didn't like it much because it didn't feel like One Piece but now as a Big Hosoda fan I'd like to see it again to reevaluate it. I wish it was licensed here.

You can really say the same about a lot of anime studios. When you have too many projects being worked on and 100+ anime coming out a year for the last few years, I think it would make sense to cut back a dozen or titles. From a business standpoint, less titles could mean that you have less release delays.

thanks for the explanation
i didn't know this.. usually i will see them available either via fansub or crunchyroll, etc..
for NA region viewers... without seeing (special) or (movie) next to the title....most would not able to tell them apart at all
I saw episode of sabo. It's alright. It's just another recap special
