I don't see how that's going to encourage tourism if the event is only happening for 12 days. Like... Do they really think people can just drop everything and run up to Tohoku right now? They should have either announced it way sooner, or have it go on for a lot longer, so people actually have a chance to prepare for the trip.

Maybe they're basing it on the frequently-traveling original audience of Ingress.
