EPISODE 8
Geez, where did this episode come from?! So much more dramatic than the season has been, and it was great! The way the bedroom scene played out had me on edge the entire time, wondering if Makabe would actually give in. Really well directed that part. But, his resolve still remains. For the time being, anyway.
And when Butler lady told everyone he was with her the night before, oh man did my jaw drop lol the truth seems to have cleared it up, but we still don't know how Aki will handle him going to Nekos apartment instead of calling or telling her during an outing.
I'll also mention that I really like the fact that Makabe understands that his terrible personality as a child was part of the reason he was bullied. It would be simple for him to convince himself he did nothing to warrant the hostility of others, but he chooses to take some responsibility for that. Cool beans.

Yeah, the drama is really good this time.
I wish I cared about Neko. But I don't. :'D That'll probably change once we get her backstory....but I dunno....
I hate the whole "ill girl disappears without taking her meds" trope....like...do you have a brain!? Heartbreak is not a good enough excuse to do something that stupid. It just feels like she's trying to manipulate everyone now....well, I guess this isn't the first time she's tried that.

Holy drama llama bam-bama. I was taken offguard by the amount of srs bizness, too. Very little attempts at humour. Things have certainly gotten interesting. Dying to know what Neko's deal is.

Lol well look, try to put yourself in Makabe's shoes:
He's incredibly insecure about his past, he's focused on winning over Aki, then some weird girl he's never seen before barges into his life, lies to him, sneaks into his room, steals his super-secret-yet-despised photograph, and pushes herself on top of him claiming that she "loves him".
Would you trust her?
It doesn't matter how pretty or well-endowed she is; the logical answer would be "No. It's too suspicious. What is she really after?"
We as the audience know that Neko's feelings are probably the real thing but Makabe does not know this. She is still a stranger to him, plus his trauma over liking girls in the past ending badly does not help things. In fact, he probably has just as hard a time of trusting what girls say as much as Aki trusting what boys say.

I don't necessarily disagree. Though the way I'd always viewed that scene is that once again he's giving up the chance to have a decent relationship for the sake of his revenge.
Well, there is a development later that I'm even more fond of. Hopefully it gets adapted since it was a side chapter.

Not going to lie, that kiss between Neko and Masamune seemed sweet. I knew the show wouldn't go too far from that bedroom scene but it got the point across.

I think that it also goes that there is something up with Neko, that she has already set herself up as a liar. He thought she faked needing medicines just with vitamins, and she was clearly seducing him often and all her honeyed words were suspicious, maybe because they sounded too good. It was tempting, but to all that it is a temptation, he has made himself diet and exercise so much in the past years becaue he has fought against temptation, and he probably dislikes himself a bit too much to allow it.
Seizures though are something I don't hear specifically mentioned in anime often, probably because the idea of them is particularly un-sexy.

Well, yes, it's probably meant to be viewed that way....by the audience. Makabe has no idea what she has in store for him though so that's why I can't blame him.

A couple years ago, I had to watch my beloved dog go through them routinely and it was terrible.

I think this series has a less commonly seen theme and that pulled me in. I am hook and want to know what happens next. I love how quirky the MC is at times as he is used to being a loser but since he has transformed to a winner he is still struggling to get used to it while at the same time being a strong character. I think this will be a successful series.

Episode 09
Oh lord, the irony of the last five minutes is beautiful
Neko is still weird to me; you cannot just choose a random photo and decide "I am going to fall in love with this person".....how can such forced feelings suddenly turn genuine?
Unless she was like "Hmm, I'll try getting close to this one" and fell for him after really meeting him.....but it doesn't feel like they even interacted enough for her feelings to become so deep. It doesn't make much sense to me at all.
I just can't buy into it. Neko, you're a weird character. Sorry.

Im pretty sure she was lying about the whole "random" photo thing. With that flashback she had, I think she recognized Makabe, and she definitely recognized Makabes mom. She has a picture of her, after all. Think she was just trying to play it off.
Ugh, did my face scowl when that character at the end showed up.

She was lying. She's genuinely loved Masamune from back when they were both fat little kids. By not telling the truth she's trying to get him to rethink his whole revenge scheme so it doesn't end up badly for him. She's sacrificing her feelings for his sake.
Don't worry, Neko. I'm sure there're better guys for you around!

Thank you for clearing that up, Vaisaga. That makes a lot more sense.
The anime was vague about it, I thought......or maybe I didn't pay close enough attention. idk
Pretty funny that Makabe as this fat little kid was still a chick magnet back then. I guess he didn't think girls could find that cute. Aki going all dere-dere over chubby boys was really hilarious.

Episode 9:
Hmm, I think this concludes most of the main storytelling about Neko.
Felt bad for her honestly since she has this sickness...
Her background story also got revealed more in this episode.
Honestly, I wish they spent less time about Neko in this series. I do like her in this show but there's not many episodes left and I feel like the show will be rushed to the end. They spent way too much time on her. We'll have to see I guess.
Looks like we got the appearance of another character at the end. I'm ready for more drama.
